  Ok

  I would rate the hotel maybe three stars. Room was fine, large and clean but bathroom was a little dirty. Staff tried hard but as most of hungarians, they speak quite bad english so sometimes it was difficult to talk to them. But they really try and are friendly . Restaurant offers good fod for a good value, generous portions.

  visiting Debrecen

  this was my first visit to Debrecen as well as the hotel Obester...was happy with the room it was clean and comfortable the breakfast was not special to write about but it was on offer...I enjoyed the deco of the hotel...if I am in Debrecen again I will stay at this hotel.

  Dont expect much....at all.

  Checked in here as conference hotel was full. Reviews on line also seemed...OK. Its a pretty basic set up. Very informal staff, reception feels like it isnt a priority/often no one there. Room is dated,telephone didnt work, do had go back and forth to reception to sort out the frequent issues. The room would be just about acceptable if the air conditioning worked. Which it didnt. Fans came on, but temperature never dropped. Only option was to open windows- but people smoked downstairs outside in the courtyard, and I think they were staff, and this then travelled up to the bedroom windows. Other guests can also be easily heard- belching til the early hours. Lovely. The room service was pretty bad. I had to ask twice for clean towels as they were not left and on my last night I came back to find no one had entered my room at all. So no clean towels and no bed made. I can usually handle this but the bedding is pretty bad, the sheets dont fit and so without the bed being made you are sleeping on an old and dirty mattress. When I told reception, the staff member shrugged his shoulders and blew a raspberry/pfffft noise- like he really didnt care. I asked him if he thought it was acceptable/funny- and he just seemed exasperated that he couldnt do anything about it as its the room service that is the problem, not his problem. Also- the pillows are terrible. Like a sack of cotton balls. Dirty glasses were not removed from the room. The bathroom is pretty grubby around the edges. The door has no lock so the room didnt feel particularly safe. The lamp didnt work. Not an awful place, but would never stay here again. I know it is only 3 stars, but its scraping the barrel.

  My worst hotel from 100's in past 30 years

  Stayed one night, Dec 5-6, 2019. Checked in around 10pm. First surprise was that room was at 30C. Tried all heat settings and discovered that two worked: switched off or 30C. Switched off and opened a window (-4C outside). Worked on emails til 11 and then discovered as I prepared for bed that there were papers from prior guest; then found all the towel in the bathroom either on the floor or used/on rack. Hair in sink. Checked the room more thoroughly and could see one of the beds had been slept in. Decided to use the clean towels from the unused bed and go to sleep. Bed uncomfortable, with a pillow that felt like large lumps of foam inside it but I would not use the other used pillow. Slept badly. Went ot shower in the morning and the glass shower door fell off when I closed it behind me. I showered, dressed and let the girl behind reception hear how disappointed I was (I did that as kindly as possible). She could only apologize. She and the man who checked me in, were pleasant.

  Dont bother

  Have visited many hotels and was not impressed with it. Room was large so you had plenty of room but it was dark and drab. There looked like there may have been a flood in the room as the wallpaper had black marks all down it. Rooms not cleaned at all when we were there but towels were changed if they were in the shower. Information in the dresser draw said get robes free of charge for use in sauna and hot tub. Went to reception sauna and hot tub closed no longer in use but still on hotel information. The only good thing about the hotel was the staff very friendly.
