Fabulous HotelI've just returned from a fabulous holiday in Cape Town. I cannot find any faults with this hotel. The rooms are equipped with a microwave oven and kettle, tea and coffee sachets are provided daily. Rooms were nice and spacious and very clean, beds were lovely and comfortable, large shower cubicle. The receptionists could not do enough for me they helped with booking taxis and provided helpful tips on trips etc. The hotel is a 2 minute walk to the shops and restaurants and close to the seafront. Lovely walks along the promenade to the V & A Waterfront. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to stay in the Sea Point area. I will certainly stay here again if I ever return to Cape Town. :)

Good Hotel for Price, Service and LocationThe Atlantic Affair Boutique Hotel is situated in Sea Point, off the main road on a one-way side street. It is within walking distance of several very good restaurants, a small shopping mall with grocery stores, and the ocean (not a beach). It is reasonably priced for its location, service and rooms. The Good: Well laid out room that makes efficient use of space. Has small kitchenette, refrigerator, safe, etc. with good closet and shelving. Modern with USB charging plugs. Good water pressure and hot water. Bedding and mattress are good. Within walking distance of several good restaurants and shops. Digitally controlled AC/Heater. Good service and clean. The OK: Location, while good for day visits to nearby areas, does not have any room views. You will need local transportation to get places. Parking is available, although best for small vehicles otherwise park on the street. Lighting is appropriate except for applying makeup at the desk. The Bad: Sound is the biggest issue at this location. Doors automatically close and sound carries through the walls and ceilings/floors. This means you hear doors closing at all times of the day. You can also hear outside noise fairly easily. The bathroom was starting to show its age with water damage/mold on ceiling seams and base boards around the shower. Overall: For the price, a well equipped, good general location with all a traveler needs. It is probably best seen as a place to sleep and not a destination (no watching sunsets on a patio/balcony).

We expected a sea view.....The property is very handy for accessing the wonderful promenade at Sea Point. Parking is available, but spaces rather tight. We were allowed to park our 4x4 in a space which was not officially a parking space. We started in room 104, on the first floor, and were quite shocked to be faced with a view of nothing but the back of other buildings. We had driven from Joburg and were looking forward to the ocean view mentioned on Booking.com We immediately complained and were told the only room with a sea view was the penthouse, which was always booked. I wrote to the hotel via Booking.com asking for a refund for the remaining three nights, on the grounds that the view had been miss-sold. After a rather confused process, we were offered to move to the penthouse room 302 for nights 3 and 4. The sea view (even if described by the manager as partial) is a joke, being a very small, distant V shape between two buildings. The name of the property and its listing as having an ocean view are misleading. The manager told us our booking was non-refundable, but given the misrepresentation, I would challenge that. We chose to accept the offer of the penthouse for nights 3 and 4, rather than waste time looking for other accommodation. Having said all of that, the rooms are clean and well equipped for limited self catering. The bathrooms could do with some freshening up, such as tired grouting, but are fine. Room 102 was spacious, as a single space, including the kitchen. 302, being the penthouse, was ironically less spacious, since the bedroom was separate from the sitting / kitchen. I would characterise the property as serviced studios / apartments, rather than a hotel. I notice that one of the four stars on their illuminated sign has slipped and that seems to be symbolic.

Beware !Beware of unsafely! I stayed at this hotel for 3 weeks. As a frequent traveler I always pays attention for cleaning of the room & safety( especially during such an uncertain time during COVID ). Unfortunately , while most of the staff was very helpful & polite, the manager Heleen was extremely discourteous. When entire country (even the whole world) mandatory wearer a mask to prevent spread of the COVID ( in the premises ), she constantly rejected to do that, pointed to me that if Ill stay for a distance from her- then her saliva will not gonna get to me! I explained to her that I came to visit my newborn granddaughter & concern about spreading the virus ( especially when many people at the reception pass by), but she continues to argue without wearing a protective shield or mask. She even told me that if Im not happy with hotels policy, I can move outIt was really rude and unprofessional behaviour. I made a picture of her while she decided to write the notice to me that I can leave the hotel, if Im not happy there. I actually stopped by reception not to teach her how to take care the guests of the hotel, but report that all curtains cover by dust and a/c is leaking to my clothes. In response to that Heleen started screaming on me! I was in shock, I never expected that in such friendly country anyone on such high position in the hotel can act like this. In regards of the other things of the hotel, I can say that location is very nice and quiet ( except that homeless people lie down at the sidewalk near the hotels entrance and I felt very uncomfortable coming back after 8 pm, since from 8 pm to 8 am there are nobody from hotels staff present in the hotel, only 1 security guy, but guests cant entrance to the hotel from the main door & should press the code themselves and going through the parking lot). On a daily basis cleaning of the room was good, bedding and towels clean, staff was polite and very friendly. Unfortunately cleaning lady cant clean the dirty & dusty curtains without managers request, which never happens during my 3 weeks stay. I hope that hotels director/owner will pay attention to the above issue. I understood that this hotel is not 5*, but 4* is also has a requirement to have a clean and healthy environment .
