  Truly Fantastic

  What an absolutely terrific place to stay. We stayed in a first floor courtyard room and wow it was awesome.. A massive kingsize bed one of the most comfortable we have slept in. We had a settee which was also very comfortable and a big enough tv to relax and watch either on the bed or settee (excellent extendable wall mounted bracket enabled this). The bathroom was the size of most hotel rooms with large roll top bath and walk in shower and under floor heating in the bathroom for added comfort.. Play the golf courses to take full advantage of this wonderful venue. We will definitely be re-visiting soon..

  very good afternoon

  Visited again today for food with the special offer deal this is great value but always enjoy the food anyway without a deal. Went with a small baby and asked to be seated outside as the weather was lovely. The gent who seated us was fab as were the rest of staff. Felt totally at ease from start to finish and the food was lovely. Would recommend as the setting is stunning but made by not being too stuffy either and you can relax and have a lovely time.   Very noisy with mixed groups not from the same family

  First time visit for Sunday lunch. The surroundings were ok and the lunch was very nice. There was a one-way system in operation for customers but staff did not use it as they kept taking shortcuts and I bumped into several members of staff when I walked to and from the toilets. Also, there was a lot of noise coming from one corner where TV celebrity Jeremy Kyle and his family were sat with Close House owner Graham Wylie and some other people. They were later joined by ex-footballer Alan Shearer. One rule for the general customers and another for the owner and his celebrity friends?

  Golf trip

  As quality golf trips go they do not come much better than this. Forget the mealymouthed negative reviews experience this excellent venue for yourself. The Filly is a really quirky risk and reward test of golf and the Colt is outstanding. But both golf courses come a distant 2nd to the accommodation. I did read some ridiculous comments about grouting and the odd cobweb, obviously missed a vocation or still bitter about Judith Charmers getting the job they wanted. Experience it for yourself and dont look to be negative but enjoy the opulence. From the greenkeeping staff on the course, the bar staff young and old, Helen on reception and the lady in the pro shop the staff are friendly and very accommodating.

  Excellent Rooms and Golf

  This isn't so much a hotel as a golf course with (excellent) rooms. The rooms are in a converted stable block (or similar) and are spacious comfortable and well-equipped. Food and drink are provided in the (also excellent) golf clubhouse. Covid protocols were very-much in evidence and well-managed. Food was good quality and reasonably-priced. There is a walk of about 300 yards from the clubhouse to the rooms. The golf courses are top-notch, especially the 'Colt' Course. We visited twice during 2020 and would certainly return.
