    Excelentes vacaciones

    Realmente disfrute mis vacaciones en este hotel. Las instalaciones excelentes, muy linda playa y los tragos y buffet muy buenos también. Solo mejoraría la calidad de los restaurantes a la carta.. ocean view buenísimo, el italiano pésimo.

    I know that it is COVID time, but...

    I really went into this trip with lowered expectations because I know how difficult everything has been for the travel and tourism industry. I tried to contact the hotel via email, phone, and social media prior to traveling in order to confirm procedures but did not receive a response from the property through any channel. Upon arrival around 3:20 pm our room wasnt ready. That was OK. We were sent off to find food. After eating our room was ready but they couldnt reach our butler so a bellman walked us and our bags over to GL. Our bracelets couldnt be activated so we had to visit the Royalton front desk before we were able to get into our room on our own. No cart or assistance was offered. We were told what had to be done and then sent off to figure it out. We didnt meet our butler until he walked by the pool and said hello. He let me know I needed WhatsApp to communicate... which I couldnt verify without a cellular connection. I had to find a work around just so I could confirm dinner reservations. This wouldve been good info to have in the states. Our first night we had the buffet since that was the only option we were aware of. The second day we see our Butler around 1:00 PM and asked if we could get a reservation for that night. He said yes and took my WhatsApp number. No confirmation and no way to reach out to him. We didnt go to dinner because the buffet wasnt great and we couldnt confirm a reservation had been made. Day 3, we have a message from our Butler! We can now reach out. I asked for coke zero and tea bags, my only special requests during the stay. We received the next day. No dinner confirmation again but at least I could reach out this time. Room service was always a surprise. We had two good experiences. We had one night where they called 1.5 hours after the order was placed to say that they hadnt seen it in their system. I cancelled. A second morning we waited 1.5 hours after the confirmation call (a total of over 2 hrs after ordering) and it wasnt delivered. The TV ordering system says theyll leave it. They wont. I called to ask for coffee and tea at 11:15, but the person who answered let me know it was our fault for not continuing to wait in the room since they wont deliver without someone in the room and it was now outside of breakfast hours. I was fairly upset and asked her to just forget my request for tea and coffee and wed try again the next morning. I do not function without caffeine and the extra wed requested was already gone. I reached out to the tour company who provided our airport transportation and was able to get food. I am not sure if they food came and they took it back or if it never came. I should have waited in the room but our time is limited and thats why I ordered so early. Regardless, two strikes against room service. Like I said, I know theyre under difficult circumstances but this was really an underwhelming trip overall. Ive stayed at a number of all inclusives both luxury and lower end, and this really has been one of the most disappointing stays. I was looking forward to returning once the pandemic is over but Im not sure that it is worth it. I didnt get the luxury experience that Id hoped for and was promised. I have visited other resorts during this time and didnt have nearly the disappointment I had at GL. Tl;DR: if you dont mind paying a premium for being au naturel with the understanding that the luxury element is suffering at present then youll probably be fine. Otherwise, Id wait until COVID is over and things have gotten more normal. The pandemic experience leaves a lot to be desired and negatively colored my impression of Royalton.

    Perfection

    Just returned from a 7-night vacation from Grand Lido Negril. Already rebooked for next Dec. Ricardo, Cynthia, Kiana & Rohan made our trip memorable. No complaints or issues so we were very pleased! If you dont choose a swim out suite, youre missing out. Music softly playing in the background, butler Ricardo and jerk hut cook Rohan making the rounds to ensure we were comfortable, security present but well in the background. Food was plentiful and seasoned very well. Weather was perfect 6/7 days. Night time entertainment could have been better; one can only listen to DJ music for so long but the M. Jackson show was very good. The buffet was great with the 4 restaurants complimenting the grand buffet very well as far as options and variety. The grounds crew took their duties seriously with every shrub, garden and landscape groomed to perfection. You couldnt find trash or debris anywhere! Housekeeping came daily and did a wonderful job. I am a very picky traveler and should be when paying close to 5K for a once a year vacation but I could not find anything that I was not pleased with, except maybe the staff being slightly understaffed at the check in. Only one person doing check in with travelers waiting. The Delta transit service should use more modern vehicles. Ours was old and a/c shaky plus broke down on the return trip to Montgomery Bay Airport but another bus arrived within 45 minutes so we made our flight. Nice job responding timely to avoid missing flights. Grand Lido Resort: 5 Stars Delta Airlines: 5 Stars Delta Transport: 3.5 Stars

    Customer Service?

    The hotel is nice but the customer service needs an overhaul, was entitled to a free airport pick up because of the the room I selected comes with it. First of all no one contacted me in reference to the pick up. I emailed approximately 6 weeks before travel and Im still waiting for a response. When I call I am transferred from one person to another with each not knowing what to do and suddenly Im disconnected (that happened over three times). Grand Lido please let me know when you get this situation fixed, thank you

    Beautiful Resort and Location But I'm Not Sure We'll Return

    We rented the penthouse suite at the Grand Lido and had a really mixed vacation. The room was huge and beautiful, but the furniture was dated and some things did not function (wine fridge, nightstand drawer, etc.) The hot tub was also huge, but a little dirty and too hot, which was our fault as we did not ask for it to be turned down. We felt really comfortable being naked throughout the whole building and the Grand Lido grounds. We thought Christina (ask for her "special" drink) and Rohan did a great job at the Grand Lido grill, but the hours should have been from noon to 8:00 pm or so since the Bistro is not open. Which brings me to the bad part of the vacation. Overall, the food from most of the rest of the resort was really bad, and it's $8 for a can of Pringles from the store.. We ordered from the VERY limited room service menu twice and each time the food came about an hour later and completely cold. Zen, the teppanyaki restaurant, was good, but they didn't let us take our plates down until more of the food was done. In hindsight, we should have just grabbed and ate our food that was hot and got the hot food when it was ready. Armadillo, the Tex-Mex restaurant, was just terrible from the stale chips to the really weird proportions of the food for the fajitas. Be warned that the walk from the main building to the GL is pretty far. The good thing is that the grounds and weather are so beautiful that you don't mind too much, and it's nice to know you can get naked at the end of the walk. Props for the super cut wristband charm that has RFID and works as your room key. I just wish they'd let us keep it as a souvenir. If the food service improves, we will consider going back, maybe with family staying at the Royalton part of the resort. But right now, we're left with a really bad taste in our mouths.
