Undiscovered but worth a lookI stayed at the Hotel Casa Blanca Business and Spa while on a short business trip to Recife in North East Brazil. Although quite a distance from the centre of the city and commuting can be an issue, the hotel was excellent in terms of cleanliness, food and friendliness of its staff. It has a private beach front and good in-house facilities for the business visitor. The front desk can arrange any facility you require and the cost is extremely reasonable perhaps dictated by its location. Planned developments for this area of high-potential will make this a meaningful choice in the future.

Totally RelaxingWe are a family from Chicago and this was just the place we were looking for. Great facilities and a very friendly atmosphere. The breakfasts were excellent. Our tour guide Alemara took us to some amazing places in the country.

Spa, Maybe. Business, No.Found this place north of Recife, about 30 clicks out. I'm not sure why they call it Business & Spa, 'cause it sure has nothing a business traveler needs, like decent lighting in the room, a lamp on the desk, reliable Wi-Fi... little things like that. The room lighting was more what you expect to see at a 'love motel'... rope lights around the perimeter of the room and the bathroom. If my wife were along this trip, we would have checked out immediately just because of that. Air conditioner barely could keep the room in the low 70's (22C), despite being on all the time. Also, the bulb in the bedside lamp kept flickering. It was never changed despite a couple request to do so. All that being said, the mattress was very comfortable, the breakfast buffet was a little above average, as was the dinner buffet, and reasonably priced. The staff were very friendly

Not even a 2 start, location not safe unless stay in the hotelThe hotel is label as 4 start, is not even a 2 start if you are used to 4 start hotels. Is far away from Recife aproximate 45-1 hr of taxi drive (50 dlls) even if the hotel is label a being 22 km from the city, the roads is very bad and busy. The rooms are very basic and small, no hot water on a cloudy day and the amenities are of poor qualities. The food is boring and cheap and if you don't want buffet at night you have no other option. You can barely sleep beyond 7:30 because there is always some work around or the employes make a lot of noise. The beach is dirty and the pictures you see posted are not what you get, there is no longer a nice white sand beach. The pool is nice. The surrounding from the hotel is scary, not side walks, only one restaurant 2 blocks away and nothing to do except being scare of walking. The wifi did not work properly on the rooms we were since they use lower devices for wifi that I use at home, it seems that they standards are way below to other countries. I had to go to the lobby/dinner room for better connection. The spa?? relaxing, is impossible to accept that concept in that hotel. I paid 280 dlls per night and I did not receive the worth of my money. My final assessment of my 2 weeks trip in Brazil is that the hotelier association is substandard and of poor quality unless you go to a big place like Melia but be ready to pay 600-800 dlls per night.
