  Best view in/of Kampala

  This place has The Very Best View over Kampala. A terrific sunset and youll see the thousands and thousands of iron roofs, dust, light, cars and people way down there. The place has hardly any service, but youll get what you need while enjoying the view.

  Wonderful view of kampala. This is a gem which is being left to waste..it is like the owners have given up on it. The original concept ,-location and design...was creative. In it's splendour years it must have been a dream hotel in kampala. The rooms need a touch of paint. Curtains old , dusty and musty...breakfast did not match to the expectations. I expected beautiful gardens as appeared on the website but these have also been neglected. This hotel is crying out for attention. Maybe due to this neglect there were few customers during our stay there and maybe this gave it a sense of privacy!

  No hot water

  I stayed here from the 18th to the 20th July 2017, Friendly, but ineffective service on the whole. No hot water, cold showers (and KLA water is cold). I think breakfast had to be found on the first day!

  HORRIBLE!!!! Stairway to hell

  Terrible terrible terrible .... old,weird smell , tiny rooms..dirty bathrooms... And so freaking overpriced... Doesnt worth any star.. a thumbs down would have been nice . If you are looking for a disappointment this is the place to go.. they showed us a room with a view .. a view to a plastic water tank ..

  New Year 2019

  There is no doubt that the Hotel Diplomate has one of the most spectacular views over Kampala and to see the fireworks that welcomed in the new year, 2019, we could not have been in a better place. The good news is that a group of young entrepreneurs have started up a bar in collaboration with the hotel and so the viewing terrace of the hotel is really a happening place! They had literally just opened in time for the New Year and the paint in places was still drying, but I loved their attitude to keeping customers at the centre and I wish them all the best for their venture. Customer service is something which is sorely lacking in the hotel. When I went to check on arrangements for the new year, we sat at a table expecting to take a drink, but nobody came. This has always been the problem with Hotel Diplomate - great view, great potential, but terrible follow through - hopefully the arrival of the terrace bar lads will eventually spread through the whole place! I will definitely be back at the bar to watch the sunset over Kampala
