Never againAt check-in, we find out they are no longer serving breakfast (huh?) You're listed as a B&B... We literally took down the shower curtain - it was covered in mold. A/C not blowing cold air. Couldn't find a roll of toilet paper to save our lives, nor the hostess, so we bought our own at the convenience store down the street. Filthy and unattended.

Never never againI have been living there for a whole week. Really, the worst hostel that I ever have seen in my life. Stuff ( one old man who never smiles) answered on my question about how the front door opens like "Oh, what a problem you are for me". Sorry, what?! Air conditioner in my room worked by itself. So it was cold like a hell or hot any time. Simlpy, don't do that for yourself.

very tiredProperty very tired and in need of updating. Carpet in room I was in stained and dirty. Furnishings stained. Shower stall EXTREMELY small. This is not a B&B. No breakfast on offer. Sheets clean and bed firm. They want longer term bookings and are not interested in bookings for one or two nights. Room 3 directly on busy street with lots of traffic noise 24/7. I would not recommend.

Caution! We spent four nights at Jarvis House on a recent summer getaway to Toronto. The good: Excellent location and unbeatable price (about $115 US per night, including parking, for a room with king bed and adjoining bathroom). If you're okay climbing two steep, narrow stairways, Room 9 on the third floor was exceptionally quiet as it faces the back and does not share common walls with other guest rooms. Now the bad: This is NOT a hotel. The only staff we ever saw was an inept young man sent over to let us in on a Saturday afternoon. No maid service, of course, but a handwritten sign pinned to the bedsheet that serves as a door to the basement linen closet admonishes guests NOT to take extra bedding or towels. It's also NOT a B&B. Although some other commenters praised the morning coffee, there was no food service offered. Your first vision upon entering is a filthy, stained carpet on the stairs. Bring your own soap and shampoo. The cheap plastic venetian blinds did little to keep out the morning sunshine. The king bed was lumpy. Wireless internet was sporadic. So, if you're not too picky about accommodations, shopping for a bargain in central Toronto, and not planning to spend much time in your room, Jarvis House might be ideal, but we won't stay there again.
