    Remote but nice

he Agriturismo Palazzo Boschi is a lovely renovated old farm house run by Samuel, Silvia and Cilla. It is located near the village of Cotignola and the location is a bit remote so to get anywhere you do need a car. Bologna, Ravenna and Chioggia are all within driving distances and worth a visit. Because of its location it is also very quiet and with the wooden shutting shutting out day light you can have a very pleasant lie in. You don't really want to do that because the homemade pies for breakfast are not to be missed. The dinner menu is limited but very good (a bit too much salt now and then) and reasonably priced. If you need WIFI internet, let Samuel know when you check in because the signal is a bit weak in some of the rooms. Samuel is a very friendly person who will try his hardest to make your stay a pleasurable one.

    Peaceful, wonderful hospitality & food

I stayed at Palazzo Boschi for two nights in June 2011 (and forgot to do a review then). It was wonderful to step into the cool interior of this lovely, renovated old building after driving from Venice in extreme heat. Samuel greeted me with a lovely smile and a welcoming handshake, and showed me to my room which was lovely and overlooked the vineyards behind. I was stunned by the size of the room - the one I stayed in in Venice would have fitted in the bathroom! It was great value for money and nothing was too much trouble. The only issue at that time was that I had to go to reception to use the wireless internet, as the walls are too thick for the signal to get through to the rooms. This may have changed now though. The breakfast was amazing, with a good range of cereals and fruit with yoghurt or milk and a huge variety of home made cakes to choose from. Samuel made the best coffee in Italy too. There is a restaurant on site and I was privileged to eat there the second night. The food was to die for! In fact it was the best meal I had in more than 2 weeks in Italy. Although it is way out in the countryside (Cotignola is fairly remote), it was the perfect place to stay after the crowds of Venice and I would happily have relaxed there a few more days.

Relaxing place to enjoy good local food and convenient location to explore the area

The hotel is a big villa situated in the countryside, surrounded by similar villas and fruit groves. It is positioned a convenient 10 minutes from the motorway which makes it excellent base to explore the area by car. Otherwise there did not seem to be a lot to do in the immediate neighborhood: the area seemed to be mainly fruit gardens and villas dotted here and there, connected by narrow country roads. There is a small lawn behind the villa and a shady covered patio where dinner is served - excellent to relax in the evening but not enough to enjoy a whole day staying just on the premises. The building is typical to the region: spacious, with stone floors to keep the cool in hot summer days, high ceilings. There are 6-7 guest rooms, the 4 we've seen are very big, furnished with items of somewhat antique design which gives the atmosphere to the place. Spacious bathroom. Appliances and lights are modern and new. Overall very comfortable. As for food, breakfast is typical sweet fare: bread, homemade jams and cakes accompanied by good coffee. Dinner menu is laconic featuring local dishes: excellent homemade pasta, good meat stew, local charcuterie and cheeses. There are interesting things to taste like jam from green tomatoes and pickles, made from the produce from their own garden. Servings are big and beware it is dinner Italian way: they surely keep your plate full. The owner is very friendly, welcoming, smiley and accommodating. And at dinner even though we were completely full he still offered us complimentary dessert to make sure we try local sweets. I found room rate as well as dinner prices rather high for a B&B. I would recommended the place for a one-two nights' stay to explore neighborhood towns and the area and enjoy rustic excellent food and quiet evening outside away from the hustle and bustle of touristic towns.

    Worth coming back!

Unfortunately we came just for a sleep, but I was very curious to see how the agriturismo would have been during the day. The (family) room was incredibly big, high ceilings, nice colours. Decoration was simple but nice. We paid for the family room 90 a night, including breakfast and it was worth every penny! Host was nice and forthcoming (I had to leave at 06.00 AM and he made sure I had breakfast before leaving). Next time I will surely stay longer
