    One night stopover

Excellent room, breakfast and engaging hosts for a brief one night stopover as part of an 8 day cornwall staycation. Everything was very clean and tidy if a little cramped in our room but fully understand that the larger rooms are retained for long stay guests. Hope to return at the very earliest opportunity to a homely well located excellent boutique hotel.

    Great hotel

We stayed here for two nights and we loved this place! It was a great location, with great views and really welcoming. We felt very relaxed and at home, and loved the bar area. The breakfast was stunning and really tasty and we did the dinner with Andrew Durham and it was stunning and well worth the money. Overall, a great place, great room and highly recommend.

Stunning views with service and food to match

Great home from home hotel, the views are stunning, we had a balcony room and the view was amazing, the service is fantastic also, we had the taster menu by finalist master chef Andrew Durham and was it was absolutely sublime, the rooms at the rear are quieter but no views. Definitely a great choice for a stay by the sea.

Great place to live out my memories....

Just returned from a weeks stay in the hotel; partly enforced by this infernal pandemic but also because of circumstances this was my chance to relive many memories of holidays here growing up. Porth was one of the beaches we spent endless days digging in the sand, dipping in the sea and exploring the rock pools. The place hasnt changed that much, aside from the few shops all closing and two of the three pubs also going the same way. Despite that, Porth is still a great little bay close enough to Newquay but at the same time far enough away. The hotel is run by a friendly couple who have a small team of equally friendly staff. Covid precautions are enforced, and the 10 Oclock curfew which hit us mid stay rigidly enforced but you can see the effect this move has on trade. We had a room at the rear of the hotel which was no great loss really but a front facing room with a balcony to stretch on and view the amazing vista must be great. The room was well furnished following the owners 60s theme which runs through the place. One observation, but purely personal, the bed was a little too low to the floor !. There is a small mini bar in the room with decent prices which helped after curfew !. Breakfast was served in the conservatory at the front and all items were freshly prepared to order. My own highlight was the omelette stuffed with vegetables which was really good. We also ate here on a couple of nights and experienced the skills of Andrew Durnham which I have reviewed separately. Both nights were superb. This is a great small hotel. It is nice to stay in a large luxury hotel sometimes, but also nice to stay in a smaller place. The Porth Beach hotel is no grotty little over ambitious B &B, it is a mile away from that. I think a recent review mentions a laid back attitude that didnt seem to cut it - I disagree; it adds to the charm.
