    Convenience, helpful and good communication

Leading up to our arrival we had good communication with Carlo in regards to our arrival time and where to park. Not only was the communication timely but Carlo was kindly waiting for us at the parking garage. He then helped carry our luggage to the apartment up 2 flights of steep stairs. This type of service is above and beyond what many establishments care to offer. Carlo also provided us with a map and some good local recommendations. The apartment has been refreshed and is comfortable and clean. There are many quality dining and drinking options right at your doorstep and although a busy area due to this we did not find any issues with noise or behaviour. The apartment is also a 3-5 minute walk to The Duomo, Uffizi, and the Ponte Vecchio. Thank you to Carlo for his great communication and help with our stay.

    Great recommendation

The apartment owner recommended Ristorante Cafaggi for real Florentine cuisine. It was a great recommendation. My family loves to try new food and Cafaggi had some interesting options. My son tried the Deep fried cow brains and they were cooked to perfection. So milky and sweet. They melted in your mouth. I had the octopus appetizer and again so delicate and tender. My in-laws had the raviolis to start with and they love them. Considering my father in law is 100 percent Italian, it says alot. For our main entrees my son and I had the duck. I wanted to try the Florentine steak, but it was for two people. The duck unbelievable. My in-laws both had roast beef and they loved it. We had their house wine , which was Chianti. For dessert two of us had the grandmother's almond stuffed cake. Wow, best dessert ever. This restaurant is very reasonable. Definitely give it a try. It's not a typical tourist spot so you get the whole Florentine feel.

Superb location to explore Florence and also surrounding cities (on traain)

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights at the Relais Martinez and it was great. Location wise its a short walk from the train station and literally next to the Duoma. On arrival we had a message from Ricardo that he would meet us at 9 - 915pm which he did. He took us to a 2nd floor appartment that could ahve quite easily catered for 6 people. He left after showing us how to use all the facilites leaving his contact number in case of the Relias as was a little dubiouis. Previous reviews call out the fact that the appartment is not pristine and the towels are thin like paper.Well its not pristine but it is very clean and wellmaintained. Yes there are a few scrapes on the walls and some marks but its not dirty! Nor is it unkempt. For an apartment next to the Duomo it was excellent. The towels - yes they are linen towes (like a tablecloth) but in 40 degree heat they are perfect, dry you well and when you hang them up they are very quick to dry too. In my mind if you want cottton fluffy towels in heat like that you must be crazy! Other comments had mentioned that there were no tea or coffe making facilities - there are. There is a kettle and a bialetti (italian stove perculator). Although we jsut stepped outside the apartment to use the coffee bar next door (1 euro for a coffee) The lift is small - can fit 3 people 0r 2 and a case but it works! There are ight switches easily accessible on each floor for lighting your way. As its a shared property there are of course other guests going in and out so the noise can depend on how couteous they are - we had no problem - just alittle nnoise on the stairs as people went in and out and a few noises from the other appartment - moving chairs, dropping things on the floor etc. Again this i think was to be expected. There was air conditioning units in both the bedroom and the kitchen/lounge which we made use of. Access to the appartment is through a well secured door on the street and also the appartment door is very well secured. There is a supermarket just out the apartment on the left and many many coffee and restaurants to chose from. At the other end of the appartment street is the open ampitheatre (Galleria dell Accademia) which was hosting live operas and events when we were there. We bought 2 tickets for Rock the Opera @ 25 euro each and it was amazing. As we were there over a week we used the local trains to get to see Siena, Luca and Pisa too. We walked everywhere and took in the sights. We also found the local outdoor park/pool which is a 2km walk along the banks of the River Armo starting from the Ponte Vecchio bridge (keep the river to your left - dont cross the bridge). There is a separate review of this area from me too. All in all the Relais Martinez is a fantastic appartment in a fabulous location
