Good looking, but paper thin...Since the idiotic Luzhkov knocked down the Rossiya in 2006, medium priced hotel rooms have been hard to come by in Moscow. Eventually, supply has started to meet demand, and the Seven Sisters Taganka is part of a chain that has sprung up in recent times. The price was very reasonable (visiting Dec/Jan 2016/17), and the location is excellent, not far from Taganka metro station in a part of Moscow that Luzhkov obviously missed with his bulldozer, so some fine old palaces and churches are still around. The price also included a patchy and disorganised breakfast served with charm but sadly lacking in consistency: every morning the same stuff wasn't in place and we had to start our requests from scratch (and slugging me 100p for proper coffee is quite outrageous). The reception is fine, and we only spoke in Russian to them, so I cannot speak to whether English is available/comprehended, but they were very cooperative about a few things we wanted to get sorted there. The rooms themselves are comfortable (we paid for a deluxe room and I would suggest this is about the size of standard rooms in other hotels, so pay the few roubles extra). Some of it remains fairly basic, but there are some things they will have to sort if they want to attract regular customers: there was no thermostat apparent, so the windows needed to be open from time to time to let the freezing Muscovite air in to cool down, and that is surely not very practical, and the soundproofing is poor. Whilst this didn't affect us greatly (very few guests at the time), you can clearly hear conversations in the hallway. It could have been worse: our room was situated above the restaurant, and they run karaoke, so our first night was accompanied by some appalling singing of cheesy Russian pop songs. I was so tired I slept through worst of it, apparently, but some co-ordination on this is probably vital to the hotel's attractiveness. Thankfully, there was no repeat, but it was a quiet time of the year so be warned. The toiletries are not up to standard, and they could drop the toothbrushes and razors to improve the shower gel. It is hard to overcome the soundproofing issues, so this one may be for celibate heavy sleepers only.

fare for the price, good locationThis hotel will not surprise you with any amazing facilities, after all it is 3 star and for the standards of Moscow, is cheap. Staff is friendly and talkative. Breakfast is not reach. It offers a limited choice of meals and hot drinks. The best feature of the hotel is the location. It is close to Taganka square. There are plenty of good restaurants around. I especially Liked Jugoslavia restaurant ( sorry, can not quote the exact address).

A Hotel Close to the CenterHotel is located very close to the center, for example, St. Basils Catherdral, which is about 2.8 km away. Personnel at the reception are very friendly, patient and helpful. The room was spacious enough and it was easy to get there if one understands the Moscow metro system. In addition, public transport stop is nearby. My room was of reasonable size, equipped with a desk, so it was convenient to use my computer. Bed was comfortable with a set of cushions. Bathroom was very clean with overhead shower, in addition dental and shaving kits were provided.... Breakfast choice cannot be described as rich However, the price/quality ratio is good.

Good experience for a reasonable price! The attention in front desk, always looked for a solution to satisfy the clients, we could store our luggage two days before the check-in day, the rooms were faultless... The neighborhood is quiet and there's a metro station near it, so I'm happy for the experience!!

Can You "Walk"Pros: Located in residential area, very quiet. Spacious room (in European standard) with elevator. Clean & tidy Reception staff are very helpful. Cons: Far away from Metro, almost 25-min walk (I walk very fast) Paper-thin wall, be prepared to receive all the conversations from next door. Breakfast is OK but the waitress is very moody.
