    Very disappointing experience

    Our family goes to Caledon Hotel twice (sometimes thrice) a year but I will not go back in a hurry after a very bad experience. I understand that Hotels has to be covid compliant but Covid does not come with bad service. Firstly, the breakfast in my previous visits was the absolute best at Caledon but has dropped from my a 5 star to a 0 star. The quality of the food has dropped, cheap tomato sauce, cheap quality juices disgusting coffee. I ordered breakfast one morning, waited 45min and walked out of the breakfast room with just "i'm sorry, we forgot". The swimming gowns and room service and are no longer available too. I am disgusted that nobody even took my complaints seriously knowing that we are loyal clients of the Hotel. Very disappointed at Caledon Hotel . ( The Spa is still 5 star though!)

    dirty, badly maintained, manager has bad attitude

    arrived and could not access the drop zone for our luggage, no security guard at boom. Had to carry own luggage about 200 m past a drunk beggar/vagrant. Nice intro! Room had clearly not been cleaned properly, we therefore had utter mistrust about it being sanitised. Someone had left a hair brush in drawer; so we already sensed it was unhygienic. The telephone, the mini Safe, the Heater and the door to garden all did not work. My wife got locked out! The safe was not fixed. Telephone not fixable. Sort of got heater working but it clanged away all night long ( was really cold night) Housekeeper was sullen. General Manager claimed she tried to get hold of me that was blatantly untrue. Management are unrepentant and will not offer any form of compensation what so ever after many attempts to get out grievances across. My advice stay somewhere else, this place is way over priced, and in a shocking state of repair. Needs a serious upgrade. Disgusting responses so far still trying to get anyone to understand that we would have walked out and gone home but that it was too late and too far for us to do so! What a rip off.

    Second time round

    This was our second visit to Caledon Grace, and still a lovely as before. Our host Marti is very gracious and just such a friendly person. if you are looking for a quiet serene environment to break away from the hustle of every day life, go make a turn here and unwind.

    Horrible holiday

    Arrived at the desk only to be told I was booked at an incorrect rate and was charged R500 more for the booking. The manager then said said I should claim the money back from my friend who prepaid the rate and refused to pay the extra. One restaurant open (da Vinci) due to covid with no salad, veg (even though on the menu) and only fried food and terrible pizza. Breakfast is oily and substandard with only instant coffee and 50% apple juice. It comes pre-packed in lots of plastic wrap. They ran out of towels for both the pools and the bedrooms. Rooms were still being made up at 3pm. But the beds are clean and comfortable. There are no little extras and bring your own plug to charge your phone. The passages echo terribly so anyone saying good night or closing the door sounds like theyre in your room. Found the staff to be helpful and eager to assist but mostly they could not do anything except apologize. Personally, I will avoid, visit the pools as a day visitor.

    Most horrible service!!!

    Myself and my husband booked in at Caledon hotel on Saturday 29/08 for the first time for our anniversary. the porter was the most friendliest person working at the hotel he was so friendly and helpful. when we got into our room the aircon wasn't working one of the ladies at the front desk was in our room at the time and saw it wasn't working (fiddled with the remote) and said she'll send someone to fix it. we told her we're going to the pools so if they can please have it fixed by the time we get back which will only be in like 3 hours time. We came back more than 3 hours later the aircon was still not working we mentioned it to them again they told us again they'll send someone. we left the room again came back again almost 3 hours later aircon still not working. we then left it coz clearly this people is ignoring us. Later on our room was freezing cold we asked for an extra blanket the ladies response she'll see what she can do. Almost an hour later i went down to the front desk to ask about the blanket. Then there was someone else at the front desk asked him and he said she probably forgot and that they don't have extra blankets. ARE YOU SERIOUS AN HOTEL DOESN'T HAVE EXTRA DUVETS OR BLANKETS. bear in mind we paying over R2000 for the night. he then gave us a single bed blanket that's all they have, i also told him the people next to us and opposite us are making a terrible noise it was 3 rooms where they were talking very loudly and slamming the doors every 2 minutes. Our room was so close to reception area room 211 but they couldn't hear the noise, said they'll send security up. the next morning we booked out i told the guy at reception about the aircon situation he just looked at me made a note and said goodbye to us. i feel that was so unprofessional not even an apology. we had a great time at the pools but the service are absolutely terrible horrible. There are staff that's very friendly and some who just doesn't know how to treat people, never mind a paying customers.
