  Cracking little place

  What a cracking little place. There has been some TLC added to this building. The room was spacious and inviting. Breakfast was available in the owners other building a short walk away, The Chapel House which is a stunning building. The owners were very accommodating and helpful. Both places I would highly recommend.

  Not 'Luxury' as asdvertised

  I thought this hotel would be on a similar par to their sister hotel 'Chapel House', which is lovely, but unfortunately it wasn't at all. Not staffed properly (occasionally someone hovering around Reception), Room 6 at the top was shocking - shabby (broken light shade, stained/dirty carpet with bits (hair bobble etc) left over from previous guests, paint peeling, dusty sills and skirting etc). Bathroom wasn't clean - hairs in sink and shower - shower head was so grimy we didn't even shower. No atmosphere and just felt a bit cold and lonely. Not fair to charge premium prices to have to walk down the road for the breakfast (that was OK - rushed and chaotic - but food OK). Wouldn't stay here again. Worth paying a little bit more for a better place. Did overhear some guests saying the owners were selling it, so perhaps why it may be getting a little run down. Given some positive reviews, perhaps there are better rooms than the one we stayed in. Really disppointed as Chapel House is lovely. Emailed to pass on constructive comments but never received a reply.

  Great Stay; clean, comfortable and friendly!

  Great location, spacious and clean room! Enjoyed my stay with meals at the Maynard. Amazingly friendly staff (Thank you Claire and team). Stayed for work from a Sunday-Thursday. Highly recommend; short walk to the coast in a quiet and friendly neighborhood

  Not luxury accommodation

  This hotel is described as luxury accommodation, but as others have remarked this is not the case. The building looks tired and in need of decoration. The room was large but cracked windows and missing door handle to the bathroom summed it up really. Breakfast is down the road at a much nicer hotel. There is a stark difference between these properties. The staff there are very nice and breakfast was very good. I think it would be best if 17 west street were to tone down the rhetoric about the hotel and describe it more accurately so as to avoid the high expectations of clients On a positive note its in a good position just five minutes walk to the beach and handy parking permits available.

  Great

  Awesome place and hosts loved our stay so booked again ..very clean and so peaceful would definitely recommend we will stay again and again definitely better than the britannia chain the host was so nice and took a real interest and couldn't be more helpful
