Fabulous stay is incredible India!!My partner and I have just arrived back from the Santa Rita and to say we are missing it, is an understatement! We flew over for two weeks to join family and friends who were spending the month there. From the minute we arrived we knew it was the correct decision to stay at this hotel. The staff are quite simply incredible, nothing is a problem and they will do anything to make your stay special. Our room was basic yet spotlessly clean. We had a superior room with bedroom, lounge and private balcony, it was cleaned daily and was just perfect for our stay in India. Now if like me the food is a big thing for you, you will not be let down, everything from the buffet evenings to the a la carte nights was delicious. Do try the butter chicken, its the bees knees.!!! Entertainment is varied, however I did do a couple of impromptu DJ nights which seemed to have went down a storm. 5 min walk from beach, pool area spotless and plenty of beds and chairs to soak up the delightful Indian sun. We will be back and look forward to seeing everyone again. You arrive a stranger but without sounding cheesy, you really do leave as a friend! Lots of love, George & Ryan xx

So good I didn't really want to tell you about it!Sorry for the late review. We were due to stay at the Sea Shell Resort and Villas (Nov/Dec) until Thomas Cook collapsed. We were then in 2 minds as to cancel our holiday plans to Goa and maybe grab something else a little closer to home which I'm pleased to say we never. Although Goa isn't everyones cup of tea, it certainly is ours. From the north to the south you'll usually find a warm welcome, exceptional food, sandy beaches and of course very very reasonbly priced drinks! So if you do get the chance to go then please do take the opportunity. The Santa Rita is in a great position being 5 minuites walk to the beach and shacks and just far enough from the hustle and bustle section of Candolim Road. The hotel itself as mentioned by others has a colonial portugese feel to it with which is lovely. The food they serve (I swear) is more often than not better than what you will eat in the local restaurants and over the years we have eaten in many of the restaurants that Candolim has to offer. The pool is of a reasonable size so if not wanting to go to the beach on any particular day had enough sunbeds for everyone. That said, we usually hit the beach and chilled out at Ryans Shack which is arguably the best shack on the beach and one we have used for a number of years now (great food, good toiletes, brilliant staff) try it! The Villas themselves: Hmmm, here's the rub. You need to get one of the superior villas that is situated on the tree lined walkway. The villas that are probably included in your Thomson package will be the standard ones and in truth are not very good or very well positioned. We were originally given one of these and on first sight I decided there was no way in which I was staying in it for 2 weeks. I made my feelings felt to the lovely Lorna on reception and by morning both ourselves and the couple we were travelling with were moved foc to superior villas. These villas are much larger, have nicer bathrooms, a kitchen and lounge area with flat screen tv, along with pretty comfortable beds. The standard rooms (and they are basically just a room) are the polar opposite to the superiors and in my opinion not acceptable for Thomson customers and especially if paying full price. The staff work tirelessly and are a real tribute to the hotel. They provide a tremendous customer service and should be congratulated upon it. I'd usually praise certain individuals but feel that would be unfair as they were all truly and refreshingly fabulous! I celebrated my birthday there and was given flowers and a birthday cake which was a nice touch. I was also surrounded by all the waiters, chefs and management team at dinner who sang happy birthday to me. which was a bit unexpected but very much appreciated. So there it is.. Great resort, good location, wonderful food, lovely staff. Just go! Tips: 1. Don't take a standard room. Either upgrade at the point of purchase or contact the hotel directly and inquire about an upgrade. Although we got our upgrade foc. there may be a £10.00 premium per night per villa. 2. Don't buy any trips off the Thompson rep as they're ridiculously overpriced. You can get exactly the same trips from Johns Trips on Candolim road for a 3rd of the cost. I actually laughed in the face of our rep at the prices he tried to charge us for a trip to the waterfalls. 3. Don't go to the waterfalls \(lol) as it's a long ride, it's jam packed when you get there, it's quite dangerous underfoot and if you've seen a waterfall before then you've seen one. It's no Niagara falls! Hope this helps

Nice resort with private beach entryLocated adjacent to Taj Holiday Village, this resort is really good for those who wants little bit of party vibe of Baga and secluded beaches of South Goa. Duplex blocks painted in vibrant colors of Portuguese style villas. Pros: Spacious rooms with private balcony, good service, high standard of cleanliness, nice breakfast buffet, parking space and pool. Above all private beach entry although coming back in dark should be avoided on this path as passage is very isolated. Cons: No mini bar other than coffee and tea, charging points, less number of TV channels, bit outdated cupboards and no place for hanging clothes in bathroom. Resort is walking distance from Sinquerim Fort beach. 5 kms each from Baga Beach, Aguada Fort and Reis Magos Fort.

Peaceful, family friendly and lush greeneryThe hotel is situated right on the main road so very easy to locate in Candolim.. Its a very lush green and peaceful property and looks very colourful from outside. However, it is very old property which is well maintained from outside but not from inside. The furniture and bathroom fittings are worn out. Pros - Peaceful and greenery all around - Rooms are spacious with gallery - Very clean and hygenic - Prompt help service - Breakfast just normal. Simple Indian cuisine like idli, pauha, upma, bread pakoda etc. - Although we had problem with the tap water not coming, it was repaired and rest was very pleasant. - Cleanliness and hygiene is well maintained in the cafeteria while serving food - You can reach the beach from the resort itself within 5 min walk. No need to go out. Cons - The bathroom is very narrow and small. We stayed in a Standard room. For a well- built person, the hands would touch the walls when having bath. Secondly, it is so small that all the water comes to the basin area. - The toilet was leaking and water was continuously flowing on the floor. First there was no water then there was some problem with the tap so we could only use one side of the tap. - The taps need to be changed as they are very old and leaking. - They have solar heater, hence it takes 10-15 mins. to get hot water. Like geyser, you don't get really hot water but considering the climate of Goa, its okay. - Only soap, tissue and shampoo provided for toiletries.
