Very nice hotel in a quiet placeVery nice staff and service. Room was spacious with a nice terrace and mountain view, but bathroom was quite tiny. The bed was little too soft (old spring mattress) to my use requirements. The room definitely need some renovation. The breakfast was outstanding, with outside sitting options. Won't hesitate at all to stay there again.

Pleasant stay in clean spacious hotel in quiet locationWe had booked the apartment for our family of four, it was on the top floor so had to carry our bags up one short flight of stairs but it wasn't a problem. There were two separate rooms, a kitchen area and single bathroom, it looked like it could sleep about 8 at a push but there would be a long queue for the bathroom! The rooms were very clean if a little dated, the beds were big & comfortable although I never really got used to the massive pillows that seem popular in the region. Reception was smooth and staff were pleasant even though we arrived about the same time as a tour group, we were told that we couldn't eat in the hotel because of the tour groups so we found a place near the abbey (Italian place...great pizza), it was only 800m walk so not a problem. We got to breakfast quite early but after the tour groups so it was pretty quiet if a little picked over, it wasn't startling quality but perfectly adequate...nice cake! All in all it was all good considering what we paid for B&B for 4.

Let down by breakfastThe room was fine, and the lady at reception was friendly and helpful. There were large groups staying there each night, but that didnt cause us any issue. The reason for the poor review is mostly due to the young man (short with short dark hair and glasses and a penchant for black clothing) responsible for the breakfast that was included. On the first day, at 8am when breakfast started, he told us we needed to go into a side room and not to have any of the food from the main breakfast room. In the side room he had put a few crumbs such as some bread and cheese, but no drinks. Both times my husband and I went into the main breakfast room (to pick up a cup of tea or some juice) we were met with a can I help you that must have been a mistranslation considering it was delivered in a what the f... are you doing in here, get out tone along with an accompanying glare. We understood the body language and tone, so then stayed in the side room. However before 8.15 he had come into the side room and taken away most of the food and put it back in the main room, accompanied again with a withering look at us both, before closing the door to the main room shutting us out. So, the first day, breakfast consisted of a 15 minute time slot, in a side room, with a selection of a few crumbs of food, and glares of varying intensity by the young worker. The second day we had more luck. Although the glaring young man was still there, he was joined by the friendly receptionist who was working hard to set up the breakfast. Today we were just told to wait until theyd finished setting up breakfast which seemed fair enough, and we werent relegated to the side room. It was however a bit annoying when another guest entered the room and he was allowed to freely pick and choose at the breakfast while they were still setting up. This day we had a wider selection, yesterdays leftovers had been joined by some fresh bread, new cheese (although sprinkled with nuts, possibly to get rid of us in case we had anaphylactic reaction to nuts) and some scrambled eggs. Although the eggs were inedible, it was comparatively nice to be able to sit in the main room and not feel the heat of a glare in my direction. Our final day had a wonderful surprise in store for us. No, the glaring young man hadnt met with an unfortunate accident, he had learnt some customer service overnight and greeted us with a warm and friendly good morning!
