Had a good time at Apartments VysehradHad a good time at Apartments Vysehrad. There is a small elevator - it might be new given the previous reviews. Martin was a great resource and spoke good english. We had pre-paid our airport shuttle and Martin called and confirmed our pick-up requirements with the company. A few tips. The place is nice but it's not a hotel. You basically get a couple of rooms with a bathroom, there is no lobby, exercise room, etc. There is a restaurant next door where you can buy breakfast. It is a couple of miles from downtown and you can take the trams which work very well, the guide which Martin will give you shows the routes. You will need coins to buy tickets - some of the stops do not have ticket machines so either buy the five day pass or buy the tickets ahead of time. The ticket does not not get validated until you get on the tram and put it in the date/stamp machine. The metro is also available but it's a few blocks up a steep hill and it takes a little work to figure out how to get to the building. Prices outside of downtown were very reasonable and the menus either had descriptions in english or they had menus available just in english. There were three of us and with several beers, appetizers and a meal we often spent less than $70. That said, we were not impressed with the food. It usually ended up being a bland meal with few spices or the quality of the food seemed lacking. We were always asked if we wanted another beer. We did not get hit with nuts, etc. as an appetizer but we were given bread and to be honest I don't know if we were charged. Oftentimes the bill listing the items would be in czech and they charge you for things like ketchup but given the prices I didn't worry about the small items. Most people speak some english so that worked out well as we just couldn't get a handle on the czech words. Prague is a great place to visit and we had a great time. Would recommend Apartments Vysehrad for the traveller on a budget.

A++++++Apartments Vysehrad is one of the nicest places that I have ever stayed. My boyfriend and I were very impressed for the entire week that we were there. On arrival, the owner Martin apologized that he had to switch our room because of a water leak. He took us across the street to his other property. We were nervous at first not knowing what to expect. But when he opened the door we were so happy. He was putting us in a beautiful apartment! It looked brand new! All wood floors, full kitchen, living room with a couch, french doors, high windows, separate bedroom, and modern bath. It had a great view of the charming street and the stone wall of Vysehrad. There was a tiny elevator which was great. This isn't a big chain hotel with tons of amenities but it's clean, friendly and a value. Martin was a sweetheart. He sat down with us and explained how to get around the city by public transportation in detail. Knowing that we would be traveling to Berlin for the second half of our vacation, he looked up a schedule and slid it under the door. He is the best! We didn't sign up for breakfast but chose to find our own places. There was a lovely place at the bottom of the hill on the corner. Delicious food and healthy portions. We loved the neighborhood and felt liked we lived there. A public transportation stop was less than 5 minutes away and it easily connected us to where we wanted to go. I would highly recommend Apartments Vysehrad!

Very nice apartmentThe apartment was nice, warm an with all amenities! Perfect base for visiting Prague (a incredible wonderful and beautiful City) If I have to find a negative point, this is two floors without elevators... But in this time with Christmas cakes, beers and delicious prague's foods, I need to exercise and lose all calories! :)

Remarkable property in a perfect location for us and our small dogsWe are Americans living in Germany who wanted to take a road trip to Prague from our home in Wiesbaden. We also wanted our two small dogs to accompany us. It was important to us to find a hotel both near a park and Prague's wonderful attractions. After extensive research we selected Apartments Vysehrad. The building is located just at the foot of Vysehrad, the medieval fortress ruins with the monumetal cemetary and home to the minor basilica church of Sts. Peter and Paul. Our reservation was handled without incident by booking.com. We drove with ease to the entrance of the building which was located only about three minutes south of the bridge we used to cross the river. The neighborhood was quiet and we found a place to park directly in front of the building. The hotel features bedrooms as well as a variety of apartments. The building is in excellent condition. When we rang the call button for reception it was immediately answered and the proprietor, Martin opened the door to greet us. What a delightful and helpful person. Martin wanted us to see our rooms before unloading the car to make sure they were satisfactory to us. He took us up to the fourth floor using the new elevator. Reception is located on this floor as was our unit. Martin showed us a bright and well-decorated two-room unit located on the corner of the floor with a bedroom facing the front of the building and a sitting room facing the courtyard. The room featured a lovely view of the fortress wall and the spires of the church above. The rooms were moderately sized with very nice furniture. There was a large minibar and a very nice bathroom. The room had a sofa and a table with chairs. There was satellite television with several hundred channels. We couldn't have been more pleased. Martin helped us unload our luggage and then accompanied us to the car park which was located about two blocks away. The car park was located inside a courtyard reached through two sets of locked doors. We had read about car breaks in Prague and were thrilled to see that our car would be safe during our five-night stay. Upon returning to the Apartments Vysehrad Martin gave us maps and tram information and described the best route for walking our dogs. His orientation to the city was invaluable to us as we began our stay. We walked our dogs up to the fortress. It was a comfortable three-minute walk to reach the base of the park. There were lawns at that level. The dogs were thrilled. We then walked up a long flight of stairs to view the church, the cemetary, and its gardens and monuments. It is a terrific place. The view of the city from the wall is remarkable. The hotel is located on a hill about a three minute walk from two different tram stops. Between the two stops there were at least 5 different tram lines available to us. We planned our depature stop based upon our destination and were never more than a couple of blocks away from any attraction when we arrived. The tram system is efficient, we never waited longer than about 8 minutes even during the off-peak hours. Tickets are affordable. Our dogs were free as they were small enough to be carried on. Many of Prague's sites are within three or four tram stops. Even the castle isn't more than a 12 minute ride. We also walked and the trip was a comfortable 12 minutes or so. Prague is a remarkable capital city rating well with Paris, London, and Rome although it is much smaller in size and population. The monuments are historically significant the beautiful. The museums are in excellent condition. The castle is fascinating. At every location (including the castle grounds) we saw dogs on leads. Our dogs spent time in Old Town and enjoyed themselves. Our hotel room was immaculate and very quiet. Towels were changed on a daily basis. The beds were comfortable. The view at night of the lighted wall just outside our window was breathtaking. Our choice of residence made visiting this beautiful city even more perfect. Apartments Vysehrad doesn't have reception service at all times which suited our needs perfectly. Martin provided cell phone numbers for himself and two other if we required assistance outside the reception hours. There is a very nice restaurant for breakfast through dinner next door. There are two family-style restaurants in the neighborhood featuring excellent Czech food and at least four other restaurants that we didn't try. All welomed our dogs. Services, banking and grocery, are within three blocks. Breakfast is not provided by the hotel but is available next door at a moderate cost. We had keys to the exterior building door and to the parking courtyard. We didn't use our car during the visit but our arrival and departure routes were along wide and well maintained streets. Driving in Prague was easier than in many European cities we've visited. There was no additional charge either for the car park or having the dogs staying staying in the room. Our room represented real value to us both economically and for comfort and location. We plan to return to Prague. There is much more to see in this beautiful city than can be fit into four days. Our choice of residence upon our return: Apartments Vysehrad.

4 nights without any worriesNot for a first time in Prague. This time have been to Prague from the 30th September to the 4th of October. Very nice and clen apartments with very friendly staff (Martin). And of course very nice surrounding:-) Martin gave to us the map and some advices about, where to go and what to do. We asked about shopping center, where local people prefer to go for a shopping and that was just excellent place for us. So, if we will be back to Prague once again we would be choose this place for accommodation. BUT if you are traveling by car: "Please note, that free private parking is possible only for some cars as the width of the entrance to the parking place is only 2.25 metres". With Nissan Quahqai +2 it was OK, but not wider!!!
