  Appalling

  The worst stay ever in a hotel- we were subjected to loud music from the room next door from approx 2.30 in the morning and found he was mob/gang affiliated on long term stay and who was happy to offer drugs - we had requested he turn it down which lasted 10 mins at a time - finally got someone from the hotel on a mobile as reception is not manned till 9 am and who had to come twice . Music continued loudly till just after 8am in the morning .Overall we had 1 hour sleep- Visitors staying at the other end of the block heard it as well yet the Owner/ Manager who stays directly below says they didnt?? No Apology from the Management who seems more interested in having gang affiliated long term guests and their well being, than that of any other quests . Is this a hotel or a half way house? As later found there were more long term quests . POORLY managed !! The hotel supplies were very minimal 2 towels for 2 people staying over night coffee tea etc was minimal - had to ask for a extra blanket as none supplied and bed had the most thinnest blanket on and was told we had a heat pump which on return to hotel was not working and we could not turn on . so for a night of no sleep no apology Customer care is ZERO haggled to get a 30% discount (36) dollars which we did not freely agree on as they thought 20% was sufficent . but yet have not received ..No Care NO service NO Apology. I would not recommend this place to anyone

  Mixed blessing

  Central city location is one of the strongest points of this motel. Perfectly located, walking distance to the hospital, restaurants, cafes, and gardens. Our room had fresh bed sheets, comfortable beds, strong water flow and a hot shower. The young man who assisted at the desk on check-in on Sunday, and check-out on Monday, was professional and is an asset to the motel, who also came promptly to assist with television problems. He was helpful in the phone when we booked. A real negative was the filthy carpet, stain marks on the chest of drawers, fridge and sofa. The carpet in particular needed a deep commercial clean. Some of our fellow guests were very loud late in the evening. Much slamming of doors. In general I would recommend this place only if you ask for a room inspection first. But with real attention to cleanliness, I would have rated this property higher.

  Gangster smoking drugs

  Night from hell, thumping music all night Gangsters roaming around the buildings. Cockroaches all over the kitchen, rooms dirty. I would have left and slept in the car but wasnt keen on carrying my belongings to the car through the gangsters with tattoos all over there heads Smoking drugs outside my filthy room. Dont stay at the Ashwood.

  Ok visit

  Stayed here last night and found the room to be ok but getting a bit dated Check in was very pleasant and were given freshly ground coffee which was nice touch They seem to rent out some rooms on a long term basis and there were some not so desirable people hanging around and a bit of noise at night

  Okay, but do your research

  Okay stay here at the Ashwood Manor The Good: *Comfortable Bed with good linen *Incredible Spa Tub in the bathroom - good water pressure *Good Location in the CBD *Sky TV *Air Conditioning The Bad *Parking is not great *They seem to rent rooms out on a long term basis, and some of the guests are very noisy. Lots of loud music, clapped out cars hogging all the best parks. Slamming doors, kids yelling, adults yelling. People hanging outside doors smoking. Made me feel really uncomfortable. Wish I had read previous reviews on this place which also mention this. I would have probably reconsidered. *The road noise was alarming. Room arnt double glazed. The rubbish truck at 5.45am outside my room was alarming. I am not sure I would stay here again. I just didnt feel comfortable outside my room. But the rooms are decent, and the location is nice. Maybe this establishment needs to ensure the long term guests they do have are not causing issues so that nightly guests dont want to stay.
