    Horrific experience

When we arrived at the hotel we were given a piece of paper with our check in instructions on it because the receptionist didnt speak any English. We found our room on the 3rd floor and when we got in the room we realised that the room was nothing like the website pictures. The booking.com website promised us a deluxe room with standard amenities. Things that were promised that we didnt have: a balcony, an iron, a desk & chair, bedside lamps (among others). We were only given one thin pillow each and so we went to reception to get another. None, in a hotel... not a single spare pillow! First morning: accused of having breakfast without paying for it, even though wed booked it. Then we went to reception to complain about the room size differences and we were offered a towel for the spa as compensation! After skiing... we came back to shower and the shower rail half fell off the wall (along with the rotten shower tray)so we asked to be moved out of our terrible room. We were not allowed and instead we were accused of breaking the shower! Its like the house of horrors here, stay at your own risk but whatever you do dont take the lift, it doesnt sound good at all!

Nice stay, good location and friendly staff

Stayed here for a week. Will start with the pros: - The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. They asked us how our day was when we arrived back at the end of each day. - Enjoyed the spa facilities, they were free and the massage we paid for at the end was very nice and good value. - I had a twin room with my brother, it was clean and had all the amenities we needed during our stay. Asked for extra pillow which they provided for us straight away. - Good location, just off Pirin street and about a 5 minute walk to the gondola. The cons: - The bed sheets were too small for the beds so woke up every morning lying directing on the mattress. - The walls were thin in the room so could hear the people in the room next door. The people in the room next door checked in at 4am and woke us up by playing music and talking loudly. - The wifi does not work in the rooms however this was not essential to us. -There was no water in the swimming pool so we could not use it, however the other spa facilities inc steam room, sauna, aroma bath etc were good. - Breakfast was average, would have liked some juice. Overall we would stay here again.

    It's not a 4* hotel, BUT......

The location s brilliant. Short walk to the gondola. Close by to some nice restaurants, supermarkets, street food places, equipment rental shops and schools. The staff are wonderful! Helpful, would answer all the questions, help if there is a problem, or at least try to help. Seriously, there are lot of rude service staff in Bansko, but these guys are wonderful. I would consider the hotel quite basic, but it has got everything you need. The rooms are decent size and very warm. One of our rooms (our group was occupying 3 rooms) had no shower curtain in the bath and no shower screen in the shower :)))) towels were changed daily. There is a kitchenette in the room, they provide a fridge and a kettle, couple of glasses and small cups, but no other crockery or cutlery. We found this very odd, so asked for some bowls and spoons and knife from the restaurant at breakfast. Breakfast is basic, but it's only 7lev. There is a spa, you can purchase towels at the reception for 5lev. There is a sauna, steam room, aroma room, couple of different showers. Shame the swimming pool was not working though. Could pre-book the massage, the prices are very reasonable and the massage was actually good. So generally, although it's not the stated 4* hotel, it's cheap and cheerful, so I would stay again.

    Modern, clean and convenient

This is a well-maintained, modern and spotlessly clean block in the skiing part of town, about 15 mins walk to the lift carrying equipment. This part of town has a great range of shops (mostly selling ski kit and souvenirs, but including some basic food shops) and restaurants ranging from great kebab stands to more classy places. Those prepared to walk 10 mins can get to the Old Town where you might seek out traditional Mehana where, for a very reasonable price, you get a selection of Bulgarian dishes, open fires (used to barbecue), cheap beer and maybe even live music. Our apartment was large two big bedrooms and a decent sitting room (also configured as a bedroom) with a huge bathroom and separate shower room, each with a toilet and basin. So plenty of space for a family of 5, probably 6 or 7, with loads of storage. What was badly missing was a kitchenette an apartment without a kitchen is more no catering than self catering. We had to buy plates, bowls and cutlery, as the hotel breakfast (good value and nice on the one morning we could have it) started too late to allow us to join the lift queues first thing. Beds were comfortable, spoilt by spongey pillows (insufficient in number) and bed sheets which were far too small. The internet was free and worked well. The biggest disappointment was the swimming pool. This has not worked for many years (we were told) and yet this is advertised on some websites as a hotel with a pool (same website said there were safes in the rooms). Apparently there is a sauna and massage which is not useful for a large group of children. Overall good value, convenient, large and well-maintained. Would benefit from earlier breakfast, kitchens in the flats, filling up the pool and better bedding.

    Cozy, warm, convenient, great-service

The room was spacious, the bed king-sized. Room had an electric kettle (but no stirrs). Hair-drying in the bathroom. It was clean. However, there were no bedside lights and some of the lightbulbs were out. The sauna was really nice. The best was the professional and friendly staff. It made the stay so much better. The location is about 10-15min walk from the gondola lift. Food places and stores are 2-min walk.
