  Great Value, Great Location

  I didn't book my room on-line, but just showed up and asked if anything was available. The desk clerk, who had been watering the flowers and shrubs out front, was very nice and asked me if I minded if the spa wasn't working. I told here I didn't care, and she offered me a great price on the room with the broken jacuzzi tub (she assured me the shower was in good working order, which it was.) I asked to see the room first, which she was glad to do, and I booked it immediately. If this hadn't worked out I probably would have gone to the Holiday Inn a block south for over twice the price. As it was, I had a comfortable place to stay, close to the redwood forest tree walk (among other local attractions). What I really liked were all of the coffee and tea options provided in the room. And not just instant coffee - they provided a little french press and coffee grounds. Plus some cookies, several types of tea, and hot chocolate. There was a hot water pot, of course, along with a microwave, refrigerator, and toaster. It made my morning quite nice.

  Very relax motel with spa in quiet location

  Booked Birchwood Spa Motel without much knowledge because of business trip but this motel was awesome unexpectedly. To be honest, I did not expect much but it was really good one!! The room has a private spa and very relax atmosphere. The room is warm and quiet but TV was quite tiny and located near the ceiling, so not easy to watch something but free wifi helps a lot for my laptop.

  A very disappointed stay

  With check in, there were non English speaking people at reception, After a few phone calls in their language, But it was not a very professional welcome for paying guests. First night couldnt sleep because the cystern of the toilet made a very hard pitch noise , try to tell them in the morning, remember no English, but when invited to my room he knew excecly what I was complained about , as he looked in the cystern bent something in there showed me what he had done, no problem anymore. Got back later that night , problem stil there, wasnt prepared for a second night without any sleep, called the office, explained my problem to the owner, as he was back in the office again, to make a long story short, he tried to convince me that nobody else had complained about it before,for himself wouldnt be a problem , so it shouldnt be for me . I asked him if this was how he treated paying customers, and asked him to leave my room, and have the problem solved the next day. Also the bedheads are rusting on the sides I am very sorry to say , the place is rundown, and not professionally run.

  Great place to stay.

  Clean, comfortable and affordable. No issues with noise from traffic, or other guests. Spa was great although annoying it was on such a short timer that you had to get out of the spa to reset. Staff were very helpful.

  Noisey Motel on main highway ..Not for an R @ R break away.

  Booked for a six night stay . Unit was tidy and clean so looked forward to a nice stay. However the motel was right on the main highway from Rotorua to Whakatane. All night from about 2am - when first awoken with the room and doors vibratinf - heavy trucks were traveling down the road. Inward bound was the sound of air brakes slowing down the vehicles and outward bound was the roar of engines picking up speed. The many logging trucks double loaded trailer units were the worst. After 4 nights - checked out and conceded the total amount of the stay we paid for. . NOISEY MOTEL ON MAIN ROAD
