  avoid it

  We spent a horrible weekend at the hotel. First of all the service is ridiculous they have some tanagers to serve at the restaurant, you can wait half an hour for a plate of cheese. The rooms are dirty and smell bad. Last night there was an external party celebrating a birthday at the restaurant having own DJ with disco equipment. The loud music continued through whole night (at least until 2 in the morning). It was impossible to get any sleep, we complained 10 times and been told that they can't do anything about it because people are having fun. This place is a joke, avoid on any cost!

  Clean and sufficient

  This hotel is around 3 kms far from the city center. It is clean and tidy one (comparing to some others in BUlgaria) for very good price. Rooms are wide and tidy but furniture is very simple, no special design or quality. Mattress is comfortable but it was a bit too soft for me. Hotel is located near the main road so if you have room with windows to the road, you can hear noise from the cars in the morning (or from the sheeps and cows in the evening :)). Also you will be listening to the creek running next to the hotel which might be a bit disturbing (depends). Breakfast at the hotel are VERY simple. If you are vegetarian you will be eating white yogurt with musli and honey every morning. there is no buffet, you will receive only one plate with eggs, jam, honey, butter, cheese, tomato, cucumber and ham with salami (and white toast bread). Sometimes you can enjoy watermelon. If you are having a dinner in the hotel restaurant you will wait for ages until they bring your order. Mostly they don´t have everything what is written in the menu so better order something quick and simple as traditional shopski salad if you are really starving. But staff was always kind and smiling! There is availability of sauna in the basement (for 4 people, with shower and place to lie down). Outside area is nice and relaxing with beautiful garden. Hotel is good for the tourists planning daily trips to the Rila mountains for hiking (from near by Borovets (ski resort) for example).

  Lovely family running hotel

  Very clean. Big rooms with view of the mountaineers. Good service. I love the food with reasonable prices. I ordered two nights and than stay more because I liked the place. Very good internet connection in all the area's and free parking.

  Clean and good value

  The rating here is given against the star rating of the hotel and price, if you are looking for the Ritz this won't be your cup of tea. Rooms are spacious clean and warm. Free WiFi is available throughout the hotel. Towels and basics we supplied. Staff are helpful and the breakfast is reasonable given the cost. Stayed here on a ski trip so the essentials were warmth, bed and food and all of these were covered. Room decor is dated but in good order. TVs in the room are old CRTs and small, this was not important to me so did not bother me. Free parking outside the hotel. Borovets is a short drive 7km about 10 minutes. The road is good and fast. A taxi into borovets was 13-20levs so if you want to head yo the bright lights it's not expensive and easy. Lots of cabs in Borovets. Across the street in Samokov are a number of traditional restaurants at local prices - think half the cost of Borovets central. 500ML beer in town is 2.2levs same in the resort was 5-8levs. Would recommend if you have your own or a rental car.
