Great welcome to ItalyThis review is long overdue! My husband and I traveled to northern Italy in September, with La Quercia Rossa being our first stop. What a great entry-point to this country! We enjoyed the stunning setting, up on the hill overlooking vineyards and olive trees. Matteo was a wonderful host, bringing us wine and hazelnuts from his property to sample. Unfortunately the house restaurant was closed for dinner on the night we were there, but the breakfast in the morning was beyond compare. I do not believe I had a better espresso in all of Italy than that of Matteo's! Also the homemade chocolate-hazelnut spread (ala Nutella, but so much better) was incredible. We would have stuffed our suitcases full of it if we could have brought it all home! The room itself was Euro-small but more than comfortable. My only regret aside from not dining for dinner was that we did not stay a second night. Oh! And while you are in Moncalvo, be sure to visit the local market in the square! Charming!

A Jewel of a Farm/Hotel in TuscanyGoing to the Truffle Festival in Alba this fall? Just want to take in the Tuscan country side but still be close to Turin and other cities. Want great food, pick your own figs *for free). Eat homemade jams and the best homemade nutella you'll ever try for breakfast. Well then, La Quercia Rossa is your place. Takes about an hour and one-half to drive from Milan. It is a functioning farm with a superb restaurant. We had spagetti with fresh shaved black truffles one night and a wonderful risotto another. Rooms are very comfortable, the scenic views are stunning and the owner and staff are very friendly. Great place to stay. Even seems to have a pool for the summer.

Serenity in the vineyard3 generations operating a 400 year old property ensure a wonderful experience where you truly feel at home. Special treats included wine from their own vineyard, hazelnuts and hazelnut spreads from their plantation. Sitting in one of the long row of cane chairs overlooking the vineyard as the sun set in the afternoon was bliss! The owners were truly hospitable and treated us like one of the family.

Warm wecome, wonderful foodMatteo and his family gave us a warm welcome and comfortable stay in this lovely area of Piemonte. Matteo was quick to help with advice on places to visit in the area and in our quest to find information on Italian ancestors. Everything was very pleasant. Christian and Roberta prepared and served delicious meals which were a highlight of our time in the area. We would definitely return.

Lovely country hotelLoved this charming hotel. Matteo is so proud of his family's hotel in the beautiful Piemonte countryside and he is eager to invite you to enjoy it. The accommodation is top quality and the dining room is superb with excellent meals and dining staff on hand with helpful suggestions. The grounds are beautifully maintained with views over vineyards and hazelnut orchards nearby. Try the homemade hazelnut spread at breakfast! We felt so welcome in this lovely part of the world.
