  Lovely traditional experience

  Stayed here for one night - had a two bedroom, 2 x bathroom, separate living room and 2 x private onsen, looking out over the maple forest. Really lovely experience that we would recommend. - less than 5 minutes from Gora station. If you want all the comforts of a large chain hotel - this is not the place for you, but it is a special experience in an old fashioned traditional wooden property, with the most charming staff. We only went for the very traditional Breakfast, which is beautifully served - and an experience not to be missed, albeit the Japanese breakfast is perhaps not my ideal taste. I would have no hesitation in recommending and staying again, probably would do the dinner as well next time, for the experience.

  Discovering Hakone and its Ryokan

  We were disappointed from the first minute we arrived. Indeed it was 14:15 but were rejected from the Ryokan because it was before check-in time at 15:00. This place stems from the 1950 and still looks like that. But the worse was the mould present in all bathrooms.... by bathroom I have to highlight its 2m2 and obviously no soap available... Food was tasteless! Checkout was 10:00 and reception called us at 10:05 and every 5 minutes after to tell us we need to leave! Wont recommend ....

  Traditional but very old

  Me, my boyfriend and my family stayed at Gora Kansuiro during our Christmas holiday. Frankly, the accommodation is very traditional Japanese ryokan style, however, the place is just too old. Given the high price we paid, we got very disappointed with the villa as we dont think its worth what it cost. Having said that, the surrounding and the Onsen is very relax and calm

  DO NOT stay here

  gora kansuiro.. terrible. no other way to put it. would i be so critical if i had paid $100? maybe not. but for 800!!!!!! i know it is ryokan, and not a full scale hotel, but what i arrived it was SO OLD and SO rundown. and DIRTY. the walls and bathroom tiles were stained. hallways smelled like smoke. the room where they served dinner felt like a cafeteria. the brightest overhead lighting I've even seen. the property was so unkept. old hoses and water buckets lying around. it was disgusting. i left 3 hours earlier than planned the next morning. couldn't wait to leave.

  Authentic and serene

  My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Our villa was spacious and we appreciated the private onsen bath as well as the architecture. The common outdoor onsen was delightful. With advance notice they accommodated my vegetarian diet and everything was presented beautifully, both dinner and breakfast. The garden is lovely to stroll through. We found everything to be spotless. Its location is excellent and close to the excellent outdoor Hakone sculpture museum!
