  Not bad for the money...

  Stopped at Hotel Echo for one night a part of a 5 day road trip with agroup of 6 other friends. The hotel itself is probably what you'd expect from somewhere that is still abit backward for europe. After checking in we found that the lights on the first floor were on a 20 second timer, so you could not leave the corridoor lights on. The second floor corridoor lights did not work at all. Also one of our 4 rooms had not been cleaned and smelt of smoke, another was cleaned but the bed was not made. The hotel receptionist was very heplful and flicked a switch the fix the lighting, got us two new rooms and booked us two taxis. The rooms where basic, but generally clean. The shower was a hold-it-yourself-type and the bathroom was small enough for only one person. The main thing that annoyed my wife was that we had seperate beds despite booking a double room. Maybe under communism you were not supposed to sleep togther... Breakfast the next day was of the continental type and the hotel has a big breakfast area downstairs. There is a seperate, free car park about 100 yards down the road. Next to where you turn off the main road. It looks safe, is covered by lighting and has a man in a caravan nearby looking after it. Overall, its what I expected for the location and money.

  About what you would expect from the former Eastern-bloc

  Stayed here for a week while attending a conference. Hotel is on the outskirts of town in a residential area, not much night life in the immediate area, and quite a hike to the pedestrian city center. Not a bad area, just be aware you'll need to take buses/trains, or a taxi to get around fast. Hotel itself was nice, I had a suite on the top floor. Beds and bath were nice a clean, though a bit dated. (I was actually given a key, they didn't have the electronic cards that everyone else does now). I found the food there to be adequate, but much better can be had in the tourist district. Cheap place and solid offerings. Just be aware of the location and plan how to get around.

  Absolute perfect

  Staff on reception are excellent, room perfect clean, restaurant 1.000% perfect! I recommend this hotel. Connection to city is ok, wifi in hotel too. Jednim slovem doporucuji. Hotel ma klidne umisteni, pan recepcni absolutne super, pokoje ciste, jidlo v restauraci super!

  Old and stinky,...

  70´s-style hotel in relatively quite part of Bratislava. BUT despite all rooms are marked as with free WiFi connection - for the "working" one you should stay in the lobby area. Despite the rooms are quite clean the equipment is very old and you can smell many years of using which is anything but convenient,... There are many few Euros more expensive hotels around, but they are two or three level up in terms of quality! If you don´t have to stay here, try to find a better deal.

  Old, rundown hotel

  This hotel really needs a facelift. Not much have happened here over the years. By that I mean over the past 30 years. Wifi is only something you'll have the good fortune to find in the lobby and everything is very basic. Ohh... And The entire hotel is very very dark! The room we got had not been cleaned, but fortunately they had another one. The price is cheap which is positive but the other hotels near by have prices that I pretty similar and with a higher quality. This is NOT the case for hotel Junior which is almost the same as Echo.
