it does what it says on the tin!

Stayed at the imba for one week. For the price we paid had to be a 4 out of 5. Apartment large but basic, had everything we needed though, kettle, hob and fridge. Large balcony with stunning views Deep pool which for us was great but may not be so for non swimmers. Plenty of sun lounges, however sun brollies were broken so shade limited. Friendly staff, always greeted with a smile. Shop with basics underneath, reasonably priced. Apartments cleaned every other day. Clean towels and bedding twice during the week. Would recommend as a good holiday base on a budget.

    So disappointed - previously rated 5 / 5

We returned to the Imba Apartments for the third year running for a two week stay in September. I had reviewed the apartments following our stay in Sept 2011 and awarded 5/5. We also stayed for a week in July 2012 and our opinions were similar to the prior year although I did not review for that year. I am not sure what has happened to the Imba but we were disappointed with a number of aspects this year and speaking to some other repeat guests we knew from our first visit they felt the same. The good. We were in the same room as in 2012, C block, Room 303, on the top floor. The room has excellent views of the Bay and provides spacious two bedroom accommodation with a large balcony, full sized fridge and comfortable beds. The apartments are good value for money and the owner Mahmood and his sister are very friendly. The bad. First of all the cleaning left a lot to be desired this year. The two cleaners seemed to be around all day but spent most of the time sat on chairs outside my Mums room. The bins are supposed to be emptied every other day and a towel change every three days. This has always been the case in the past and is clearly stated on the rules on the back of the door to the room. We did not have a towel change for 6 days and the bins were emptied every three days. Bearing in mind you can not flush toilet tissue this is disgusting! I took some of the blue bin liners and changed our bins everyday as I couldnt bear for them to be left. We had two towel changes and one change of bedding in our two week stay. We mostly saw the cleaners when they came knocking at the door asking us to change pound coins left to them as tips. We did this once when the male cleaner asked us to change 10 English pound coins for 30 lira (the going exchange rate) we tried to accommodate this but noticed there were only 8 English pounds! When we pointed this out the cleaner apologised and tried to explain he was confused. Now we are not bothered by £2 ordinarily but it was the manor in which this was done and the fact that we had spoken to two other guests who had the same experience surely not the same confusion three times! We refused to change any more money after this to be honest in part because we didnt really want loads of pound coins either! On our final day the cleaner came to our room three times asking to change money and asking us what time we were leaving. He then brought a flower to give to me that he had picked from the garden and waltzed into our room as we had left the door unlocked (another issue as you could push the door open unless you deadlocked it each time). I dashed for the bedroom as I had just got out of the shower and felt more than a little uncomfortable in my towel! He gave my husband the flower then said he was finishing for the day and asked for a tip. Now we always leave a tip for the cleaners and would have left something (though not too generous given the slack service) in the room but we did not appreciate this direct approach. My husband felt under pressure and gave him some money just to get him out of the room. This kind of behaviour is not acceptable and he made us feel quite uncomfortable throughout the holiday and especially our last day. Also regards cleaning, the pool side toilets were not cleaned properly the entire time we were there. My husband told me a three or four days in that there was some rather nasty toilet mess on the wall of the mens cubicle. Ten days later it was still there so nobody had cleaned the toilet properly in all that time (other than empty the bins which seemed to constitute the cleaning at Imba). This is disgraceful. We tended to go back to the room to use the toilet as we cleaned it ourselves (we bought bleach etc from Migros!). The bar was also an issue this year. Onur and Mehment have left and there is a sweet young boy working the bar now but it was impossible to communicate with him and I think due to his age there was certainly no banter / atmosphere. Towards the end of our stay during the day at the pool it was sometimes impossible to get a drink as there was nobody around! I appreciate we were getting towards the end of the season but the apartments offer food and drink all day so you expect to be able to get that. We didnt eat at the Imba but spoke to some other guests who could not get food on more than one occasion as there was nobody to cook for them! Mahmood and his sister are very nice people but they didnt seem to have any control or a sense of direction for the apart-hotel. They seem to have lost their way somewhat and possibly some complacency has set in. The apartments are still good value for money and I do not expect 4 star service but I do expect cleanliness (which was a given in previous years) and for the advertised services (i.e. the bar / restaurant) to be available. I thinks for us this will have been our last stay at the Imba.

Still great VFM for those wanting a spacious apartment with a view on a budget

This was our 2nd visit to Imba now and still impressed by the apartment that you get for your money (and the views of the bay) We went in September (end of) and there were only a handful of rooms occupied (if that!). Owner and wife explained that it was the end of the season and that they were closing up the following week. Suited us just fine as we got a top floor room on the second level which gave a lovely view over the bay/restaurant strip. We spent most days on the beach but enjoyed virtually exclusive use of the pool and sunbeds on the occasions we did spend a few hours around the pool. Rooms a bit rough around the edges and were showing signs of a season of use, but we've still yet to find anywhere in the area that offers a spacious apartment for even close to what we paid. Good size 2 bed apartments with all you could need and decent size balconies with a view of the bay (something many hotels in Bitez don't offer) Staff a bit thin on the ground given the pending closure for the season, and the bar was often unmanned and closed by mid evening, but no real issue as there is a shop next to reception and we did most of our drinking/eating out in Bitez or on the balcony enjoying the view. Shame that Onur has moved on this year. Cleaning staff polite yet unobtrusive providing you don't encourage them. Always someone about in reception to let you into your safe. Ideal hotel for those after something simple and roomy but on a budget. Ideal for a family (we used the 2nd bedroom as a dressing room). No frills or luxury, but clean and run by a hospitable family. As per many reviews, be aware that getting to most rooms requires tackling a number of steep steps, especially the rear or top floor rooms. I'm sure we'll be back at some point given the VFM that Imba Apartments offer, especially compared to some of the other 'budget' hotels in Bitez that don't even come close.

    Pretty Good!

We came here in July 2010, with family. Transport to and from Bodrum airport was good, and the distance to the beach was only about 90 metres. The rooms were clean, the right temperature, and they were very spacious. They were also very dark. The sleep quality was not very good, and when it came to breakfast, we had to bring our own and put it in the fridge. The room service was quick, and they made the bed into lovely scenes. The pool was big, and children will be entertained by it! Even babies an have their own pool. I recommend this hotel for leisure.
