  Nightmarish

  The worst stop of our trip to crete : - You can actually feel all the spires in the bed - Dead mosquitos splatters on the walls and ceiling - Toilets are literally in the shower - Only a bed sheet for blanket - Blood-thirsty mosquitos, we killed at least 20 of them, but still couldnt sleep of the night. we slept in the car. - broken store. We understand the host is not responsible for the mosquitos, but at least they should have warned us and put something in the room to repel them. The city itself has absolutely no interest, people were rude to us. We do not have the habit to let such a review but believe us, you should not stay here.

  Immaculate

  We have just spent a wonderful 10 days at Monachus Monachus in an immaculate studio apartment fully equipped (including hair dryer, filter coffee machine, line and pegs and very quiet and efficient aircon) with 3 cleaning/new sheets&towels days in that time - delightfully clean and well insulated. We had wonderful views of the grounds and beautiful swimming pool with perfectly designed shaded areas with sun beds and seating areas by the bar; edged by flowering bushes and tidy hedge. Pleasant surroundings for wine and nibbles and homemade biscuits - delicious! The view then is of the ancient Frangokastello fort and village just a short walk away. Supermarket, bakery, beaches and tavernas all within easy walking distance. We preferred Orthi Ammos beach (just east of the fort) and bought mats as no sunbeds there - much quieter with narrow beach and rocky area in front of huge sand dunes. Local gorge walks also excellent - Imbros and Kallikratis. Helpful apartment owners Nikos and Eleni lent us walking poles - much appreciated! Thank you for making us feel so welcome - we will definitely be returning.

  Lovely apartments and owners

  We stayed here a few days ago as we love the beach at Frangokastello, and these apartments are just an 8 minute walk. Our room was very clean and well equipped, with a little oven which you dont always get. The pool is massive by greek standards, and deep too, and theres a little pool at the side for toddlers. As its so big and deep, it was a bit cold too tho! However good the rooms and the pool are, we thought the best bit about our stay was the owners, Nikos and his wife. A lovely couple who couldnt do enough for you, very friendly and we felt really sorry to be leaving them at the end of the stay. We were even brought home-made biscuits whilst having a drink in the little bar. We love the peace and tranquility of Frangokastello, itll always be a stop off for a few days if we're in the area, and we'd love to book these apartments again when we do.

  Nice place at reasonable price

  Nice place close to the fortress. Quiet area with nice view. The rooms are not very soundproof though as you can hear all the tenants until late at night. However for the price it is very good and the couple that run the place are lovely as well. Worth a visit.

  2 Day Family Visit

  We are a family of 5 and we come out to northern Crete every year to visit family. On every visit we try to book 2 days away in the south of Crete. This is so we can explore the island and see new places. We love this island and we love making the most of our visit here. We were looking through booking.com and we stumbled across this hotel. Instantly it appeared to have everything we were searching for - quiet location, great reviews and a swimming pool. So we pulled the trigger and booked it. Once we booked it we were a little concerned as the price was so cheap. We thought there must be a catch. However on arrival we discovered that everything was as described. The hotel was in a fantastic quiet setting, it was excellent value, the two bed apartment was so clean, nice bedding, towels and spacious. The swimming pool area was amazing and the elderly couple running the hotel were also extremely nice, friendly and helpful. I can honestly say this was fantastic for the money and there is literally nothing I could put a negative on. The owners are also taking the Covid situation Seriously and measures are in place. If you are looking for peace and quiet, nice beaches, nice beach front taverns, fantastic hotel, friendly owners and value for money. Then this is your place. We loved our visit.
