  comfortable new hotel

  A new hotel booked for us by our tour guide. THe parking space is very limited but it was located just next to a busy street. So, it's convenient yet quite. Very, very spacious room. open the window and you can feel the nice breeze of chengdu town but for view expect none.

  Good new hotel in the center of the city

  From the outside the hotel looks like just another office block in the center of the city. It is located one block off of two main streets and thus is quiet but with a good location. Rooms are large with a good view of the city if you are on an upper floor. Breakfast buffet offered a wide selection but it was hard to find the restaurant. There is also an inside/outside bar/cafe which is a bit over priced. Fitness center is located next door in an office block.

  Good value for money but conversational Chinese required

  The hotel is well located, a few blocks away from the main shopping district. So you need to be prepared for a 20-30 minute walk to the shopping area. Hotel rooms are clean, big and spacious. The room rates are reasonable. But you need a basic knowledge of the Chinese language to stay in the hotel as an independent traveler. None of the staff knows the English language. Complimentary breakfast is included but the buffet spread is the same everyday. You will be better off going to a small eatery near the hotel for inexpensive and delicious steamed eggs, pork buns and soya bean milk. From the hotel, walk towards 7 Eleven, turn left and cross a main road. The eatery has many locals eating breakfast there and again conversational Chinese is required to communicate with the sellers.

  A good option if you speak some Mandarin

  We would recommend staying here only if you speak some basic Mandarin. If that's the case, this hotel has many pluses: it is located in a quiet area with mostly offices. It is a 10 minute walk to the Jianjiang metro station on Remin Nan lu and a 20 minute walk to the Wuhou temple area which has many shops and restaurants. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with refrigerator and teapot. But the hotel is now 5-6 years old. Our room safe had to be replaced twice during a 5 day stay. And the wifi router was so slow that it was useless. Once we connected to the Internet via the Ethernet cable, we had a decent connection. As a FYI, in November 2014, we found that most Google products including Gmail do not work in China. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The on-site restaurant was decent. Its breakfast buffet had 10-12 Chinese items and eggs cooked to order but the selection did not change much from day to day. There is also a large 7-Eleven on site. The main entrance of the hotel is next to the 7-Eleven whereas the hotel address takes you to the Tea house which is on the Hotel side. One more detail: the picture on Tripadvisor may be incorrect and is certainly misleading.
