  Great Value for Money

  Stayed here for two nights with the mother as we were travelling back to Bangkok after seeing family. The hotel is very close to the central plaza shopping centre (Khon Kaens big shopping mall) taxi is only about 40 bahts. Interesting decor, some big minion models by the entrance, a big captain America by the elevator, and some comic book character busts on top of the bar. They also sell drinking water at the reception, although we didnt buy any. Rooms are very clean and decent size, staff are very polite, we travelled about 40 minute drive to a local temple and reception happily ordered us a taxi which arrived within 10-15 minutes. Only two things is coffee and teaspoons are sealed in a pack with paper cups. Glasses for water are provided but most hotels at least give you a cup and saucer with the kettle, didnt bother us as we had brought our own mugs when we were staying with family. Second thing is the pillows are a bit big and high, I had my own cushion for travelling but the hotel pillows hurt my neck when I tried to sleep with them. A pretty modern looking hotel though and we had a pleasant stay. The hotels name is fun to talk about too and easy to remember.

  Good value for the money

  Our family of 11 stayed in the OMG Hotel for two nights in May 2019. Each family had a different room (2 king beds, 1 king/2 twins, 1 king/1 twin). Our room (2 kings) was spacious. It took a little longer than desired for our side of the room (farthest from the aircon) to cool down to our liking despite the low temperature setting. Beds are comfortable. Our room was at the front of the hotel. It was a bit noisy during the morning hours when motorcycles and other vehicles are driving by. The bathroom is large, but like other hotels during our vacation, is not ventilated, so it can get a bit hot with a warm shower. There were not many options for restaurants nearby that were open when we searched (~8 pm). However, the hotel staff were very kind to assist with ordering pizza delivery (I highly recommend a thin crust double pepperoni; a large Thai pizza is a small/medium American pizza FYI). In-room snacks, coffee and bottled water are complimentary. Beer and larger bottled water are available in the minifridge for a small charge. The hotel does ask for a 200 baht deposit upon check-in, which you get back at check-out.

  Avoid unless hard of hearing

  The first thing to say is that this is actually a very nice, clean and well run budget hotel. It does however have one major, major problem. It backs on to an open car park and about 200 metres away from a school. Now, normally you would be thinking so what? The car park and school will both be closed at night when sleeping right? A nice peaceful place to have a good nights sleep right? - WRONG! You must remember this is Thailand. And so at night the car park becomes the open battlefield for all the Soi dogs in the area. With barking, fighting and squeals of dogs getting ripped apart through the night. If your lucky enough to miss the night of the Soi dog battle then the problem of the school can start as early as 7-7:30am. You see schools here are military training camps. The kids are taught to line up and march to a drum. A tannoy (at full volume of course) blaring out todays instructions to the kids. Quickly followed by the national anthem and a selection of songs penned by previous high ranking people. I did ask the hotel reception what they thought and was there anything they could do to protect their business from the inevitable decline in customers. A puzzled look flashed across their face. Not because they didnt understand my question. They just didnt understand my problem! So, unless you are unfortunate enough to be deaf or hard of hearing, please avoid this place. A shame really as everything else is just so good here. I may get the normal response from management thanking me for my feedback. I will gladly donate my house and all my savings if the management was to actually do anything about it. Anyway, I must try to get some more sleep. I went to bed at 12:15 and only managed to sleep 2-2.5 hours and its now 9am

  OMG, what are these walls made of?

  Clean hotel with nice staff. However, even an airport hotel is a quiet place compared to this hotel, as walls are so thin that you can hear literally everything from all rooms around you. I'm used to a lot as I'm traveling around in Thailand a lot - but I've never been in such a cheap build hotel. It was definitely our one and only stay here.

  Excellent Hotel in the Heart of the City

  Excellent Hotel! Couldn't say enough good things about it. Love the location. You can literally walk anywhere you want within short distance. Rooms are kept extremely clean and in orderly fashion. Comfortable beds and staff are very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a little cheaper place to stay that is also clean, friendly, safe and has excellent high speed internet
