Decent hotel in dull surroundingsI don't think you could have lots of choice of accommodation in Surgut, so I'm not complaining. Yes, they still have Soviet style rooms (some of the rooms are adjacent with tiny common hallway) and canteen. And yes, usually you can tolerate some little drawbacks when you must stay there for business. That's the way it is. The hotel itself was decent for my purpose even staying in standard single room. I didn't experience any difficulties during check-in and check-out. There is no view and nowhere to go outside of the hotel but of course it's not their trouble.

GoodWell , the hotel is good . The city itself is very questionable ) if you re here in business , get this hotel or the one on yugorskaya . Although the latter one is in the city and takes around 30-40 min to reach from the airport . Be careful of mosquitoes and bees and other airborne bugs & insects , here they are quite savage . Will eat you alive if you dont take precautions . Otherwise the city gets hot in the summer and very very cold during the winter which lasts from oct to may .

Clean and pleasant but slightly old fashioned small hotel stuck out at the airportIf you like somewhere quiet and close to the airport this is just the place for you. Ok for a night or two to recover from jet lag but the draw back is the lack of anything to do near the hotel. The style of the place is somewhat outdated with very small standard rooms as I remember from a visit a few years ago. This time staying in a 'luxury' suite that has a small sitting room attached to the adequate sized bedroom, I got a kettle, fridge and a small CR TV in the sitting room. Larger TV in the bedroom but no international channels. Water, chocolate and cakes were put in the room every day but you can buy snacks and beer down in the cafe. The floor maid looks after your key when you are out of the hotel and there's a security man on reception level who always seem to write something in his book when you walk in or out of the front door. I suppose that means the place is fairly secure and they know who is coming or going. The little cafe serves a one size fits all breakfast (whatever they have on the go that day but usually pancakes with bread roll cheese and salami) and this has to be paid for in advance at reception when you pay for your room. The waitress gave me the cold shoulder when I tried to order breakfast the first morning without having the coupon from reception even when I tried to pay. My name wasn't on her list! The room was very hot so I had open the windows to let arctic air in to cool the place down. Then the room gets too cold and you close the window until it gets too stuffy again. The dinner menu at the cafe looked quite extensive but in reality only a limited selection is available when you try to order. Wireless internet seems to work OK Overall the Polet is OK but if I had a longer stay planned in advance I would aim to stay at somewhere like the City Centre hotel that has much larger rooms and many more choices for eating and shopping nearby. Also the Polet seems a bit expensive for what you get.

Sleep and fly awayvery good hotel next to the airport, but a little bit far from the main city and the taxi drivers are real sharks there. Teh hotel is small. Internet connection is not good, but the food is excellent.
