    Aging hotel

The hotel seems as if is in a 1960's time warp. The predominant wall colour is tangerine and there are a lot of home-made paintings of similar colour. Rooms are small and the halogen bulbs makes the rooms very warm even in the winter. Food was disappointing and at breakfast the hot option often ran out. Evening meals adequate. The one good feature is the nearness to the lifts. Watch out for the resident terrier dog..!

Better than expected but needs improvement

Arrived to a quick check-in got an ok room with a view to the rear of the building. Room ever so hot so turned radiator off. Bathroom and room clean. Good quality bedding. Enjoyed several evenings in the bar and the service from Stefano and the young girl with long dark hair excellent. Sorry I didn't get her name. Meals were not so good on some nights. You choose at breakfast. Most meals were 'ok' but pork two nights running not so good. The Pork Shank was not popular with many diners! Breakfast was quite limited I thought. No proper coffee at all. Instead they had a bit of 'American Coffee ' which was awful. Cloudy and bitter. No fresh orange juice just some sweet processed drinks. All in all it was fine as a base for our skiing holiday. Food needs improving.

    Great location, difficult to review

The best thing about this hotel is its location. Its in downtown Cervinia, such as that is, and about 3 mins walk from the boot room to the Cretaz chair. So far so simple. Id would be perfectly happy to stay here again. There are probably better hotels in Cervinia, but beating in mind the location, this one is good value, and has good deal of character. It may not be for you, though. Our rooms were a decent size, with a slightly separate little seating area by the window. Very clean and tidy. Comfortable enough beds and plenty of storage. Bathroom is fine although the shower cubicle is a little snug for the larger gentleman. The shower itself was good although our kids in the next room reported theirs rather weedy. The public spaces in the hotel include the breakfast room and a pleasant bar/lounge area. There is a well equipped boot room. The building includes a number of restaurants and at least one other bar. Its not clear what the relationship between these and the hotel is. We didnt try them. The decor throughout is bold colours, plenty of antlers, lots of wood. Some pretty hideous pictures on the wall, although all in cheery colours. Definitely not to everyones taste, but we liked it. There is a slight air of shabbiness about some of the corridors, but theyre mostly dark enough for it not to matter. The staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is probably the weakest feature, although we found it adequate. If you are an enthusiastic breakfaster, it may not be the place for you. If you are happy with cereal, yog, fruit, bread, jam, honey, cheese and a bit of cold meat, youll be OK. The coffee on the buffet was appalling, but freshly made coffees are available on request. There is a small car park at the back of the hotel, and a public one about 200 yards away. There is a resident small dog, perfectly civil but not in your face. She will probably allow you to scratch her ears if you wish, but she wont insist on it. We enjoyed our stay here, so it gets 4 blobs rather than the 3 that it probably merits objectively. If we come back to Cervinia, we might well stay here again. Its not everyones cup of tea, though. If you like everything just so, it may not be for you

    Disappointing

The 2 saving graces of this hotel is the location (close to the lift and center of town), and the staff(which were incredibly friendly and helpful and try to accommodate your every request, can't say enough good thinhs about the staff!). That said, the hotel is old, shower barely works, breakfast consisted of 2 day old bread bad tasting coffee and one poor server(who really did her best but it was to much for one person). The most annoying thing was the room, we stayed in room 307, which was right over a steakhouse,so the room constantly smelled of steaks!!(I love steaks, but this was unbearable). All in all, i gave it 2 stars only because of the staff, did i mention they were great!

Lots of positives... and a few improvements

The Punta Maquignaz has an incredible position in the heart of Cervinia, everything is immediately available nearby. The welcome was extremely warm and careful due to Covid precautions. The ambiance is very nice in all common areas and also our room was recently updated with a warm mountain atmosphere. The elevator is old (they told me the renovation is expected next year) and wifi was working rather poorly. Breakfast is average. Pricing is overall extremely convinient for the overall experience. I'll be back for sure
