Reservation and Cancellation due to typhoonI had an unpleasant experience with this Sea-Hi B&B lately. Three of us were having a 34th year of reunion and decided to celebrate in HuaLien, Taiwan. After a very long search for a B&B two weeks ago since summer is the hot season in the east coast of Taiwan, I finally decided to make the reservation with Sea-Hi B&B via Agoda.com. We (3 buddies - one from Vienna, Austria, one from San Francisco, and one from Taipei) were all looking forward to making the trip. Unfortunately, the Typhoon Matmo adamantly decided to sweep Taiwan on July 22's afternoon. Our reservation was for 7/23/14. The Sea-Hi B&B had the policy stated on its website: "The cancellation can be made when there are threats of earthquakes, typhoon or any natural disaster. Customers may ask for full refund or file an credit extension for up to one year." As the gusty wind and shower were starting to show the nature's what it could do. We finally gave up the trip as lives were more important than any "trip of No-Return". So I called the Hi-Sea B&B around 8:30am on 7/22, (since the B&B said no phone calls are accepted btwn 10pm and 8am cuz they needed to rest too, ok!), the duty manager said that I needed to cancel with Agoda.com since I made the reservation with this website. It made sense. However, the only phone number listed on Agoda.com was a number for United Arab Emirates. The company's headquarter is in UK. I had no idea how to call this number from Taiwan. (The email request for cancellation might take too long under their cancellation instructions.) I thought that was kind of weird since the website I surfed was in Chinese. Time is of the essence. So I called back to the B&B. At first, this B&B asked me that I just needed to go by the website's instruction and called. As I explained to him, he sort of reluctantly gave me a number for Taipei's contact (02 area code). In the meantime, I was getting frustrated. So I asked again the B&B duty manager if I could simply cancel the reservation with him since the Typhoon warning had been announced and tourists were evacuating according the TV news reports and reminded him its policy statment. He said he could have done for me IF I had made the reservation directly with this B&B. What a bomber I thought. Fine. So after several tries of making the phone call to Agoda (number provided by the B&B after seemly forever minutes of finding it) I finally got in touch with Agoda's representative. A courteous receptionist picked the phone after many buttons pushed. She was very patiently listening to my issue with my cancellation attempt. She said as long as the B&B Okayed with it, she could issue the full refund. So she asked me to wait for a few minutes while she contacted the Sea-Hi B&B. Then, she told me that the B&B could NOT issue the refund since the person in charge won't be in until the afternoon, plus the weather was still okay and there was only Typhoon warning for the sea. They won't be able to deal with this until 2pm. The Agoda rep told me that she would call me at 2 then. I patiently waited and finally the Agoda rep actually called and told me that the B&B would only issue a credit for an extension for up to next July 22 (for a year). I reminded the rep that the SeaHi B&B had their policy for full refund and etc posted on their website. The rep said she would consult with her manager and get back to me. Within a few minutes, the Agoda rep called me back and said that Agoda would grant me the full refund and absorb the loss. I was very glad to receive the news. I praised their professionalism and knew how to keep the customers coming back. The next day I got the email confirmation for the result. Bravo, Agoda.com!!! Good bye FOREVER to Sea-Hi B&B 152, , Taiwan.

nice experience! The view is so nice and amazing, both in villa and outside. People here are nice too, especially the owner, a kind old man. The delisous breakfast, the nearest oceanview, the romantic nightview, we'll be back next time. It 's a wonderful stay.

Very friendly owner but wished for better serviceThis B&B is a bit far off and, without a car, not very practical. However, the owner was extremely friendly and we had nice evening of music. I am sure we could have a very interesting conversation of there was no language barrier. I chose the place from a critic on e-booking: last time it had comments was in 2013. Since, the place is a bit run down. The owner may be getting old. Again, clean place and very nice people but we were hoping our daughter could play with the swing and toboggan easily without hurting herself with broken equipment. Finally, the villa where we stayed was fairly equipped but no room service was provided during our 3 night stay. Baby's diapers were starting to be smelly.... No sugar packs, renewed tea... All in all, quite pricy (and had to add all the taxi fares into town) although the smile smoothened the edges!

Perfect place to stay for a sunriseAt the first sight the owner might look a bit unfriendly but he turned out to be super sweet. He helped us book a nice tour guide, who later gave us a huge discount, recommended nice restaurants nearby, waited for us to have breakfast till 11:30AM and gave us a free ride to the city. The accommodation was super comfortable and offers an amazing ocean view from the balcony. Highly recommended!

Our favourite place! We were cycling around Taiwan and looking for somewhere to stay. Little Moon let us check in early, asked us if we were hungry and looked after us very well. Her father is gracious and friendly. Little Moon found us accommodation further south as well, and made phone calls to help us. Our stay here, and meeting Little Moon and her father, are our most precious memories of our trip in Taiwan. We wish we had stayed longer because the accommodation is lovely.
