  Perfect stop-over, perfect stay

  Definitely recommended. Waterval Boven makes a perfect stop-over between Gauteng and the tourist attractions of eastern Mpumalanga (we were on our way back from the Blyde River Canyon), and this is the perfect base during such a stop-over. Rooms were lovely, spacious and well equipped, dinner and breakfast were great, and the hosts were fantastic. We had a lovely stroll around Waterval Boven towards sunset and also stopped to see the spectacular waterfall to which the town-name refers, on our way back to Johannesburg. We hope to call again.

  Green for Go

  This is a historic building but the rooms have been modernised to a good standard. There is a quaint pub for residents only and it was the only place to eat on the Sunday we were there. The meal of trout was very good if somewhat over generous. The owner, Terry, was a genial host and it was an excellent stopover for us. We would stay again if it were on our travel route.

  A jewel in the heart of a sleep dorp

  There is a hidden jewel in the middle of the sleepy little dorp of Waterval Boven which is a convenient 2½ hours from the Paul Kruger Gate. A wonderful b & b whose hands-on owner, Terry, has created a welcoming respite to a long days journey to the Kruger Park. One is greeted by an enthusiastic and entertaining Manager, Martin, who also doubles up as the resident chef. The rooms are well appointed and spacious and boast king size beds, tea and coffee facilities and a large flat screen TV with a decent DSTV bouquet. Dinner, and full English breakfasts are served in a delightful dining room and there is a full English pub for pre-dinner drinks and their famous post-dinner Irish coffees. Do yourself a favour, try the Shamrock Arms just once like us, you will come back time and time again.

  Great overnight stop

  We arrived and were greeted by Terry, the owner. Taken to our very comfortable room. Terry was a great host and spent the evening chatting and telling us aboit all the interesting projects he is involved in to uplift the village. Would definitely stay there again. Thanks Terry

  Congenial comfort at Shamrock Arms!

  The hosts - Sue, Terry and Martin made a point of meeting and greeting our group. We were shown to our pleasant rooms and then served a delicious supper after a social time in the pub. Breakfast also exceeded our expectations!
