  Authentic Karoo farm cottage

  Our family had a great relaxing stay at the Karoo Cottage which is a typical and authentic Karoo farm house. The cottage was well appointed and very well equipped. The picnic platter provided during our stay was excellent.

  Heaven on earth at Karoo Cottage

  We stayed 3 nights and wouldve stayed a week if we could! In fact, weve already booked Gordonville Manor and cottage for a return visit with family. This time we stayed at Karoo cottage and had the blessing of experiencing the first proper rain that theyve had in 7 years. We had over 70mm in less than 3 hours - it was a total deluge! It will be remembered for years to come. The hiking is out of this world. Our dog loved the space and being able to explore. The cottage had everything we needed and we spent many hours on the stoep reading, in the most comfortable chairs. The lounge is very comfortable inside, and fireplaces all over. The kitchen is enormous and gorgeous and had everything we needed. The fresh bread every day and the braai packs were very tasty. It is a beautiful, rustic, lived-in and well loved cottage. There are bugs, because its not the city, and we embraced it all. We cannot recommend it enough! Next time we will bring some bikes.

  A wonderful stay in a beautiful part of the world

  An awesome holiday with friends with kids. The house is well equipped and beautifully decorated. A great outdoor area and braai spot. Children loved the swimming pool. We were lucky with the weather that it wasn't too hot as rooms don't have fans. A wonderful holiday for all.

  A sublime Christmas under the open Karoo Skies

  Our stay in Poplars and the Karoo Cottage was simply put one of the most exquisite holidays our family has ever experienced. The Big open Karoo skies and the gently rising mountains surrounding us, were uplifting and healing. The cottages are seeped in history and resonant with a rich and moving past. Everything is superbly stylish and the hospitality was outstanding. There were gestures everywhere (fruit, wine) making us feel welcomed and wanted. (perhaps a little TLC could be given to some of the walls that needed new plastering). There is a real generosity of spirit in all the furnishings and crockery and cutlery made available. We absolutely loved every aspect of this holiday. We would love to return.

  Exactly what we needed

  Thank you so much for our stay at Gordonville Cottage. It was so relaxing and a great way to just check out of our busy Joburg lives. Our boys loved it and didnt want to leave. We will definitely be back.
