  Would be better if the hotel was closer to the commercial areas

  Hotel looks new with nice accomodations but the hotel occupancy must have been really low since they closed the restaurant for lunch and dinner, and only had a breakfast buffet. So without a restaurant and bar, you had to go out. Unfortunately, there is nothing within walking distance so you had to take a tuk-tuk which made for a very unpleasant ride. The staff seemed short handed but at least they tried to help as much as they could. The negative is this hotel seems isolated from the tourist areas.

  Up and coming Hotel

  Staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful at every turn, they made our stay! Pick-up at the airport made check in very smooth. The on site restaurant served great food and reasonably priced drinks. The rooms were large and clean. Location was a quiet 15 minutes away from center city--good for family's. Breakfast was very good, but opening time was a big challenge. The hours posted said 6:00 a.m. opening, but twice we had to find people to open up when we tried to eat at 6:15/6:30. A little frustrating if you have early morning plans like we did. Second issue was the room furniture -- it was stylish, but extremely uncomfortable to sit on. When these issues are fixed, the StarKing will be an outstanding location in Phnom Penh.

  Decent stay

  Ok the previous reviews are pretty spot on for this hotel. Now I could give this hotel a higher rating IF you know what you're in for. As previous posts suggest, this hotel is situated out of the riverfront, about a 10-15 minute tuk tuk ride ($4). So it's not as simple as walking out your hotel to all the amenities in town. The hotel is also VERY quiet with not too many guests. However this may suit you like it did for us after having experienced so many hotels where you have noisy neighbours this was a nice peaceful retreat. So if you like peace and quiet and don't mind getting a tuk tuk to town and back this is a great hotel. The rooms are enormous and very clean. There is a pool on the top but we didn't use it. The restaurant is also enormous which seemed strange as we had breakfast twice and dinner once there and we were the only ones in it. This was a bit strange as our first day the restaurant wasn't open for dinner and the following morning we couldn't get a full breakfast as the cook wasn't in. This was at 7am event though they state breakfast starts at 6am. The other mornings breakfast was great. Our dinner there was also very nice. The staff here certainly don't speak much English. This can cause some issues but we managed to get by OK. Overall if you don't mind being out of town and enjoy the peace and quiet, this is a great hotel. However if you need to rely on the hotel for things and like being close to everything, look elsewhere. We enjoyed our stay as we like the peace and quiet and didn't mind getting tuk tuks to the city. Each to their own

  Very Strange

  This is a nice building with tons of potential, but it seems like it's half abandoned. Rooftop pool area could be extremely nice, but it's dirty, some of the equipment isn't working (no wifi either), and the bar is unstaffed and vacant. Room was okish although the bidet was leaking water onto the floor, and there wasn't any soap for the bathroom sink. Wifi went out for half a day during a two day stay. Location is a bit far from everything although I didn't mind too much since the price was right.

  Sadly disappointing

  In six weeks in Asia this was my only letdown. There were no bars or restaurants available for use. The pool was dirty and cleaning didn't seem a priority. The hotel is quite new and comfortable and the staff friendly but that doesn't overcome its lack of amenities The area it is located in is basically a building site, with construction surrounding the hotel. If you go for a walk the area is completely dominated by automotive shops or repairers. There is a limited market and a small number of food stalls near. But the hours are restricted It is situated a long way from the area of the city people wish to see. In 2 or 3 years it may be a the place to stay but not now and is definitely not family friendly.
