  Really Good

  Booked into a 1 Bedroom Apartment here. Room was fantastic. Spacious, clean, quiet comfortable. Everything was perfect and I could not fault it in anyway. Was worried that being on the bottom story would mean lots of noise from people walking around above. This was not the case, no noise from above and nothing from the busy Papanui Road. Sky TV and Air Conditioning unit in room. I will most certainly be back.

  Top Notch all round

  Very good quality 1 bed unit with excellent decor. Immaculately clean. Even though on a busy road the bedroom with door shut was completely quiet. Great bed, tv in both rooms. Sky tv in lounge. Well equipped kitchenette. Plenty of restaurants within 10 min walk. Can walk into CBD in apron 20 mins or can catch bus from outside. Handy location Great staff.

  Spacious, clean rooms but a couple of faults...

  Under normal circumstance, this would have been a four-star review (I only rarely give 5); the rooms were very good, the facilities in the rooms were excellent and the rooms themselves were well-furnished, spacious and clean. However, there were two issues while we were there: 1. Our block had no gas (and therefore no hot water) for at least 12 hours. This was apparently because a gas bottle had run out - but what hotel doesn't have spares? Not good organisation. 2. Reception, which should open at 7.30, did not open until after 8am on either of the days we were there - not great when you want to find out why there's no hot water. I hope for other travellers that they have learnt from this error.

  Our temporary home....

  We had the pleasure of staying here mid March whilst mid move from Chch to Australia. Unfortunately we were caught up in the kerfuffle of pre lockdown and our flights were cancelled 5 times which meant we needed to keep extending our stay. Strathern lodge was very helpful and understanding and nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in unit 8 with our wee dog and found the location perfect for walks, food, restaurants and town. We loved the nespresso in the room and all other facilities were spot on. Our only little problem was that the tv in the room did not work but this was a sky issue apparently and not a fault of theirs. I highly recommend them and will definitely rebook when we return for visits.

  Lovely motel

  This is a clean and spacious motel. Has a separate bedroom. Good service and extremely good value. Handy to the city and to shops and restaurants. Has everything you need - microwave, toaster, fridge. No hobs, but an electric frying pan for frying eggs etc.
