Nice hotel convenient for ski liftsLovely little hotel with friendly staff and nice food. If you are able to get a room with a balcony this would make your holiday even better as the room is bigger and the view more spectacular. We booked through Inghams and got a small room although it was perfectly clean and our cleaner was extremely friendly. It has a good pizza restaurant attached which offers a nice change for the evening as the food can be a little the same. The hotel also has a ski in and out apres ski bar which we tried once, unfortunately Austria still lets people smoke inside and coming from the clean air of the mountains found this really off putting so we didnt stay. Obertauern is a lovely resort with great uncrowded slopes with very reasonably priced (cheaper than France) mountain restaurants. However, the town could definitely benefit from a shuttle bus which services the hotels more frequently during the day and definitely in the evening as the walk into town although only 25 mins is too much for an evening when its really cold. The taxis from town for a 3 minute ride are 12 euros which is a little expensive. If youre booking through Inghams I would advise not to order your ski equipment package through them as they use a shop called Sport Gloria. The ski hire is cheaper than most but the quality of the skis isnt great and they are at least 4 years old. Intersport just a few shops away has last seasons skis which look in better condition. Also the promised 10% discount if you want to purchase anything from the shop if mentioning Inghams or the rep didnt materialise. A lovely resort and we would visit again but possibly book independently.

Wonderful family ski holidayThe hotel was comfortable, the staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Not many English staying in the hotel but all staff spoke English. One of our children was a very fussy eater and they gave him whatever he wanted every night (even though it was not on the menu). The food was fabulous and so much of it, 4 course every night, something for everyone. Pizza restaurant good value for money and delicious. Skiing, very close to the lifts, just across the road. Was approx half hour walk up hill to get to the main shops/bars but 12 in a taxi each way.

Stay but don't eatLike others, we chose this hotel due to its location opposite the lifts, coupled with the proximity of the resort to Salzburg. The position is great for skiing access but otherwise isolated from the main town which is a daunting uphill walk in bad weather. But having eaten in the hotel for 3 nights we could not wait to try somewhere else. The quality of the fare is probably in line with the hotel's general 3 star rating, so not at all what we expected given the premium rate we were charged. When spending well over £100 per person per night for half board, food which comes from a cheap supermarket packet is not what one expects. On the positive side, the room was spacious and Lynda our waitress was very friendly and helpful, unlike the male staff who appear indifferent. A disappointing stay and one we won't repeat, despite enjoying the area.

It could have been perfect vacationNo frills hotel. Simple rooms with enough space to store skiing clothes, many heaters to make them dry after skiing (2 in a room and 1 big in bathroom). Nice view to the skiing area, very clean rooms. Services like cleaning and waiters on high level, more then satisfied with it. As written by others: Early morning snow cleaning with use of louder and noisy machinery by hotel janitor make you wake up 6:30 - even it was not critical and absolutely needed. I mean 10cm of snow does not need to be clean early morning, could wait an hour when people are on breakfast or so. One more sorry happen. At the day of leaving, Ive cleaned my car from approx. 40cm of snow - which was normal and expected. But I could not believe when hotel janitor cleaned balcony from snow and didnt care of car below - result, another 40cm on front half of my car. I did cleaning again. Dont expect sorry from him, his reply was - just little snow. If 40cm snow on from hood and from window is a little then ok. Dinner - check Tartar hat - self prepared dinner directly on the table. See pictures.

We stayed 4 nights for skiing and had a great timeWe stayed in one of the larger rooms (Premium dobble zimmer) with a balcony - but the balcony was full of snow so that was not to much use. The room was nice with a small extra room with a couch and chairs/table. The hotel is placed at the road going through the valley so you have mountain view from all rooms I expect. You can ski almost right to the door. 2 lifts are within a few minutes reach which is really nice. Breakfast is a buffet and was very good. You can book a 3 course dinner in the restaurant for 20 Euros per person. The staff is very friendly - the cleaners make funny figures with the towels. And the drying room for the skis and boots is very efficient. You can park in a deep garage with is great when it is as cold as we had it (minus 23), but it is not the easiest place to get around with a big car (check it out before you go down). There is not so many restaurants in this part of the city so you have to walk if you do not like the hotel restaurant or the neighbour pizzaria (and they are closed on Tuesdays, so it is almost impossible to get something to eat if you do not book a table in advance at the hotel). The wifi is free but very often overloaded and more than slow.
