  Very comfortable hotel with nice health spa

  I stay here on business about once a year and enjoy it very much. The rooms are typically Austro-German, neat, clean and just a little bit clinical. They would benefit with in room refreshments, at least some bottled water and tea/coffee making facilities. The TV's have just been upgraded to digital flat screen and there are some English channels. This is a family run hotel and the owners are very nice. English is spoken here. Bairisch Kolldorf is a Spa village where the Austrian government send their citizens on preventatlive health programs rather than pay for them to be in hospital. Therefore sometimes the hotel can be full of older, rather creaky visitors enjoying the spa facilities. The location is very peaceful and their are some nice walks.

  Promise more than the reality

  Given that I did not use the wellness centre, I would have expected something more from what is the promise of the hotel. First of all, unfortunately not uncommon in Austria, everything is written only in German and it is really hard to find somebody speaking a little of english. Rooms are large and confortable, but are pretty old. Restaurant is low level and you can forget internet connection in the room. Only wireless in the lobby, but going on and off. Positive note is the availability of the staff

  Nice stay

  I have spent 5 days there with my Bernese Mountaindog. The hotel is very welcoming for dogs, at arrival you get a little bag with some goodies, in the room there is a box waiting for your dog, the cover can be used as protection under the bowl (or bowls if you have a small dog) and a large plaid. At noon a table was reserved for us two so that she could accompany me for the meal but not disturb oher guests. During dinner of course she had to stay in the room. And before leaving she got another bag with some more goodies. The food is very nice, be it at lunch (2 soups and salad bar to choose from) or dinner. I have just one little remark concerning the restaurant, I found it a bit too warm inside, but that might just be me. n Staff was friendly and helpful. At the reception desk you could buy local products if you didn't have the time to drive to the different producers in the villages around. Be it the wellness center or the swimming pool, othing to complain about. It was a good stay in a good hotel.
