One of the Last Bureaucrat Place in Town

This hotel looks okay from the outside and is conveniently located in Xi Cheng and near the subway stop, but the service is among the worst. My room was not cleaned properly daily - the bathroom counter and floor were dirty, there were dust on all counter, dirty glasses were not cleaned or replaced, and there were holes on the bed sheet. The towels were supposed to be white, but they are not, and sometimes even stains on them. The cleaning people often speak loudly in the hall way early in the morning or during, so that you can't rest. Don't stay here if you can avoid it by all means. There is a Xi Yuan Hotel nearby which will treat you with much more respect.

    Good Beijing hotel

Solid Chinese hotel. The rooms are nice and cleaned pretty well (same or better than most Chinese hotels I think). The restaurant is pretty good but a little pricey (try the baozi). The staff is friendly and there is usually someone nearby that speaks english, but not everyone. The location is ok. About a 10 minute walk from the nearest metro, and about 15 to 20 from the nearest Western style coffee shop. There is not a lot in terms of restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but quite a few if you don't mind walking a ways. As others mentioned, there were adverts for 'massage' slipped under the door every day (kind of like what you see in Vegas), which does concern me a bit about security, but I had no concerns other than that.

Good hotel not far from a metro line

This hotel is not in the centre itself but a little to the west but it is on a main metro line in to the centre if needed. I was here for several days and though the service was OK although several of the staff seemed disinterested; some were very helpful and spoke pretty good English too. Breakfast was OK on the first day but I think they changed chef between days and was not so good for me as a westerner. My room was pretty good and free WiFi throughout. None of the air conditioning units in China seemed to work - is this a national thing to reduce power usage?

    Worst experience

Arrived at midnight due to late arrival to Beijing. Hotel is difficult to find. Staff was unfriendly. No toilet paper in bathroom. Light in room did not turn off. Found a live bug in the bed. I slept with one eye open because very uncomfortable.

    What a horrible place

We were supposed to stay 3 nights in this hotel, but we couldnt make it. We arrived very late in the night, because our flight was delayed almost 5hrs. The hotel was difficult to find and when we finally arrived we were send to a very scary looking old house in between buildings which were under construction (from the same hotel). We entered the staff was unfriendly. Didnt speak any English and made very clear that the only thing which counts write now is the deposit (the word the translation app on her phone was shouting on me the whole time). Inside the elevator I started to realize that this aint end well. The door to our room was so loose I had the feeling someone tried to get into. The bathroom was dirty and old like the rest of the room. Bed sheets have been dirty likewise the nonfunctional AC. The room was smelling so bad that I wanted to open a window. But even this was not possible. After 6hrs in the room without getting any sleep we decided to leave this place as fast as we can. I was pleased that in the morning there was another lady. She was English-speaking and willing to help us. We got our money back for the days we didnt spend and went out. I dont know why the hotel doesnt say anywhere that they are under construction and in a renovation phase...I had even the feeling that the lady at the reception was feeling bad for us and the rooms she has to sell. Thats really the worst.
