Average and a bit unsafe feeling

This AC by Marriott was listed as a 3.5 star property which I believe is not accurate. This is essentially a roadside hotel similar to Days Inn with nicer furniture in the lobby. It just had zero luxury ambience. There is no service of any kind (valet, room service etc) and no lobby bar or appetizer area. The carport area was dirty/dingy and needed to be power washed and painted. There was an abundance of litter and wads of gum... it looked very worn. Most importantly, the area did not feel especially safe and I would not stay here again as a single woman. I had never been to Kansas City and was unfamiliar with the area. I was terrified while parking my car behind the property at night. There was no security at the hotel and lots of people loitering in the streets and around the hotel. A shirtless, homeless man tried to gain entry to the lobby as I was walking in. Several people were being arrested in the grocery store behind the hotel where I stopped to buy a soda. Just not an upscale or relaxing experience. I found the area depressing. The hotel seems out of place as this is a city block of breweries and dive bars popular with hipsters and party goers. A ton of vape shops and tattoos parlors and Lots of intoxicated people congregating late into the night. There were signs in the hotel warning against having multiple people crowd into your hotel room... not a good sign. One guy was running the entire property alone and check in took awhile... although he was very nice. This place was not for me but probably a good spot for someone else looking to party in the area. Ironically, someone told me this was called the Country Club area of town... so I was expecting a more posh, serene city suburb. Next time, Ill do more research.

    Would Not Return

the renovation is stunning, the gym is great the staff are great.  Positive Critique: -Front lobby has a definite noticeable septic/sewer and or mildew odor.  -My floor's hallway carpet has very large noticeable stains throughout, room floor is clean but the high humidity in the hotel makes it feel sticky. Also, the hallway is warm and humid.  -Am really dismayed at the fact the TV does not have streaming capability as do most 3 star hotels these days. I had to watch Netflix on my 4" phone screen. =-(  -When not running AC room feels very humid, one night I set the AC to 60 and woke up to 70. Also the thermostat makes a shrill beeping noise every time the temp or fan is adjusted. I tried to run the fan for white noise and after awhile the room is very humid again. My vitamins stick together and playing cards are warping.  -It would be so easy to have rooms include a small, inexpensive microwave over the fridge area. Walmart is currently selling for $39. Also, glass or plastic cups to drink out of would have been really nice.  -I wish hotels would just prove a regular Mr Coffee rather than the contraptions they do have, I can easily bring coffee, but I always have to ask for more of the packets during my stay.  -Other hotels are serving a grab n go breakfast during covid, would be nice to have a staff member at least handing out coffee, fruit, yogurt and other snack items during this time. 2 star extended stays are doing this.  -The large square toilet is so big (I am medium sized), I have to perch on the front edge when using it or risk falling in. The shower pan drain half the time drains slowly.  -My room had no alarm clock in it. Also, there some major chipping on the laminate desk surface, maybe some of it is from people popping of beer tops, so there could be a bottle opener somewhere, usually hotels install one on the wall to avoid this from happening.  - I appreciate the soap that is provided but the body soap is only enough for about 2 uses, so that necessitates me bringing a large container of my own when traveling.  - The trash cans are so small, so fills almost immediately, and there are no liners for me to take out my own trash during the week since we don't have maid service.  -It's hard to tell from online this is a much older hotel, so parking is limited and it's in an old neighborhood. That's okay, but I think the online photos depict something different than it is.  -It's not my first choice to have the bathroom sink be directly connected to the bedroom part of the room, but it sort of doubles as a kitchen sink, but the sink itself is so large there isn't much counter space to do anything like meal prep or toiletries. =-/ -Safe not reset, so without staff assistance, I could not use.  -I get that when it's busy, parking lot is size limited, however, this whole week they made guests use dash placards when at least half the parking lot was always empty day or night. It just seems they should only bother with those when it's busy, and since most of the places around here are covid closed, no one is trying to use the lot who isn't a guest.  - Not the hotel's fault, but I did ask for a quiet room and for the first 2 days it was quiet, then a bunch of guys checked in on my floor, sharing a wall and amongst two rooms, chattering away from 5pm till midnight letting their room doors slam shut frequently, then it all started up again from 3am until 7am. Next time I will avoid hotels near a bar district. Also, since they arrived my wifi has been choppy and my Ac won't go less than 70.

    Couples getaway

Very convenient location. Our room was clean and the staff was friendly. Our king size bed was very firm and comfortable. The restaurant and bar were closed and only small zip-loc bags of ice were available due to COVID19.

Staff Is Friendly, Hotel is ???

Checked into Hotel and the front desk Receptionist Jennifer was very Nice matter of fact the entire staff was nice. I hate that this crew has been dealt this "Marriott" Hotel. Checked into Romm 228 and the room was dirty and bed not made up. Went downstairs and spoke with Jennifer and she transferred us to room 402 and the shower did not work. Called Jennifer and she switched us to room 410. I checked everything before we moved and all was well. This is not a Family Hotel only good if you are solo or a couple. The European Flair is different and takes some getting use to. The rooms have no Microwave or Alarm Clocks. There is no Dresser to put your clothing in so basically your suitcase is your Dresser. There were people just hanging out around the hotel for whatever reason and it was a cause for alarm and safety. The parking lot needs repaired. Upon our departure I asked a couple of people their thoughts on this Hotel and they were disappointed just like myself. One person said it was so bad she called her third party reservation site so she could get moved to another Hotel. Overall I would not stay here again.
