  Hotel was OK, but not special

  I stayed here for one night in the apartment that is being offered. The hotel is a fair walk from the skilifts and the reception is very kind, although a little bit unorganised. The apartment itself seems to be fine. I have only seen it at night, as my stay was short. The upper room has a very nice view and the complete wall under the roof is made out of glass. Although this is a very nice view, it seems that certains are missing, making it a room with very little privacy. The bath and toilet are also in the open, making it a little strange. I may have missed the option of closing the view in from the windows, but thought this was a little strange. Breakfast is served from 08:00, like all hotels in Winterberg, making it difficult to have breakfast for early birds like myself or if you would have children waking up early. I guess a decent hotel for the price, but nothing special, unless you are fond of views from your room...

  Terrible choice, to be avoided

  I visited the hotel on 24-25 December of 2017. The room was incredibly small (advertised as deluxe family room!!) fairly clean and that's it. During our 2 night stay, they said that they would come and clean the room. Never did. For the Christmas dinner, I booked one month in advance, and I waited 1 one for the entry course, one hour for the soup, and almost 2 hours for the main dish, which I had to return in the meantime because it was frozen. I am not kidding, 4 course dinner in 4 hours.... From the staff, only 1-2 speak (barely) English. Overall, I wish I could rate it 0 stars...

  Friendly but very minimalistic

  First let me start saying that the personel are one of the most friendly I've encountered in a long time in a hotel/hostel. Very polite and friendly... couldn't be better. Regarding the accommodation (I stayed in the hostel): The room had just a very tiny little IKEA bunk bed and a sort of restaurant chair (only one!). The mattress was extremely soft, which gave me real back pain (I admit this quality assessment can be somewhat subjective). No table in the room. The wardrobe was in the corridor, but you could lock it with a key (like in a museum or library). The rooms had no keys and were therefore always open. The bathroom was actually the only thing that really fulfilled my expectations - clean and quite new. The breakfast just wasn't good enough, unless you're happy with stuff like bread, cheese, hamm, some vegetables and boiled eggs (served only from 8:00 to 10:00, which is quite late). Not even the traditional scrambled eggs were offered.. after complaints it was served in the second day, but the toaster was gone :-D. Coffee was good though. It's not a bad hostel, but imho absolutely NOT worth 55 per night. I sincerely hope they read it here and address this issues. They have real potential to become a kickass hotel, but they're not quite there yet.
