  Sleep-Over on The Newell

  I like to stay here when travelling up and down the Newell because this place is good value for money and is probably best booked by giving the owners a ring rather than going on-line. It is a simple place, no frills or spills, but clean and comfortable despite some road noise - that's why you ring and ask for a room towards the back. But the best thing is the "real" Indian food available from the front desk, freshly cooked and delivered to your room. After a long day of travel this can be just what the doctor ordered. We ordered chicken which was very tasty and tender and hit the spot. Don't expect a big choice of food, it is the convenience that is the key.

  Stayed here for a number of nights. This motel is showing its age with old style airconditioning and a bathroom that needs a refurb. That said the room was spacious and clean. The towels were beyond their use by date and looking more grey than white, although they were clean. Bed was queen size and comfortable, bed linen very clean and in good repair. There was only one small piece of soap supplied and no shampoo or conditioner. There were two odd size mugs, one saucer and one small plate, two teaspoons but no other cutlery. To operate the microwave the fridge first had to be unplugged. A toaster was supplied. No breakfast available. All that said the staff were friendly and helpful and tarrif was not over the top. The $69 a night sign has also disappeared.

  Friendly owners brilliant service

  Needed a room to stay at short notice. Room was affordable, really clean, comfortable and the staff couldnt have been more friendly. Such a great service Ive already booked a room for my next trip this way.

  One night stopover

  Comfortable spacious room. Perfect for my overnight stay! 2 minute drive too town, short walk to the information centre and museum. Cafe/nursery 2 doors down(closed Mondays). Not far from the river (Castlereagh River is an upside down river meaning the water is flowing below the ground) and the windmill walk.

  You get what you pay for

  I booked a room for myself as a break on a trip through to central Qld. The room appeared nice on first view, however the TV only worked on minimal channels, with the screen regularly coming up with a message stating there are more channels available, retune your TV, however the remote supplied did not allow/work to tune these channels in, so I was stuck with some ABC and Some Channel 9 network stations. The aforementioned remote looked like someones baby had handled it during a meal, with dirt and other stains around the buttons, obviously it had not been cleaned in a long time! The bed was comfortable, aircon worked well, and it was a comfortable nights sleep. In the morning was a different story, with no hot water available in the shower or taps, so a not even lukewarm shower was had. The bathroom had been updated, but old Loose fitting taps and covers in the shower spoilt the look, along with a shower screen that was newish, but needed a screw to stop the door panel coming adrift when opening it. Parking onsite was good, but probably had more to do with the lack of other visitors. Room #5
