There are so many amazing restaurants and adequate hotels in Wichita, we won't splurge on this compromise. Our stay at The Ambassador was a disappointment. This year, with a pandemic lurking, we decided on a local getaway. The Ambassador seemed like a no-brainer, boasting high-class living and elegance. The trip left us disappointed and feeling short-changed. To start the night, we had reservations at the Siena Tuscan Restaurant. The menu, printed on paper, was very limited, sans several options listed on the website. We started out with the stuffed meatball appetizer and the fig plate, both were very pleasing to the palette. On to the main course. The menu was sectioned into four parts. Primi, which by the term, I interpreted as appetizer. Pasta De Casa- pasta dishes, Pesce- fish And Manzo- steak, chicken, or pork. We decided on the Center Cut Fillet and Choice Ribeye, both medium rare, $46 and $43 respectively. The waiter, almost as if he was asking for a favor, asked if he could butterfly them for us. Against my best judgement, I agreed. Our steaks came out dry, and medium well and well. Each plate featured a steak, with a small dollop of butter and a pinch of garnish on top. This was when we realized we had missed ordering a vegetable, as they were listed in the top section, along with appetizers. For an additional $11 or so dollars, we could have ordered a side of asparagus or creamed potatoes. We were hungry, and admittedly, a little shocked at what $46 will buy at this nice Wichita restaurant. We frequent high-end local eateries, and this was definitely not what we expected. By the time our waiter made it around to check on us, our steaks were half eaten, and we decided to not pose a complaint. As the waiter brought the dessert menu, we received an emergency phone call, and needed to exit, possibly saving us from another disappointment. Upon our return to the hotel, I asked the desk clerk for a breakfast menu. He stated, the room should have one, but he gave me one anyway. As it turned out, the room did not have a menu, any paper items had been removed due to Covid. There was not so much as a box of tissue in the room. We ordered breakfast via room service, and the menu did not disappoint. We had the 3 egg omelette, tuscan eggs benedict, and the egg white frittata. The meal was delivered, and I signed the ticket, adding a 20% gratuity, (as the paper menu stated that gratuity was added to parties of 8 or more). We got another shock when we looked over the ticket and had already been charged a service fee of 20%. We called the front desk who confirmed that 20% is always charged for room service, and that it's stated on the "real" room service menu. So now, after tipping slightly over 40%, our breakfast rang to the tune of $90. As for the room, our corner suite was beautiful, and quite pleasing to the eye, and definitely the quietest hotel room I've ever been in. Several of the throw pillows had large rips in the seam. Perhaps I'm just picky, but for $200 a night, an upgrade to double roll TP would have been a nice addition. Overall, we won't choose to stay at the Ambassador a second time, nor dine at Siena. There are so many amazing restaurants and adequate hotels in Wichita, we won't splurge on this compromise.

Beautiful hotel, great staff, big comfortable roomWe traveled from California to visit our nephew for his 21st birthday and had an amazing stay at the beautiful Ambassador Hotel Wichita!! Great location in central Wichita, we walked to the Keeper of the Plains monument and then rode electric Bird scooters along the riverfront and all the way back - a great way to spend an afternoon. Had a delicious charcuterie board and cocktails at the hotels Siena restaurant bar before dinner. Came back to the hotel after dinner for more drinks at the speakeasy in the basement, great service, atmosphere and drinks. Loved the noon checkout, really allows you to recover from a late night and enjoy sleeping in. Hotel staff is very friendly and professional. Beds were so comfortable, double queen bedroom was huge with a very nice bathroom. Highly recommended, a great value for what you get!

Quick road stopWe decided to route through Wichita on way to Colorado and wanted to see a bit more of the town rather than just a hotel on the interstate. Due to high winds got in late so just checked in to a lovely corner suite and had room service. The hotel is nicely restored. Excellent room service and a very tasty steak and i was asleep in minutes. They are pet friendly but do charge $50 and also charge $12 parking Will return

WonderfulThis place is nice. I have never had such a wonderful greeting and wonderful staff as here at the Ambassador. From the beginning to the end of our stay was too notch. Rooms were large and very clean. The whole hotel was super clean. I suggest getting a top floor room so you are further away from the downtown traffic. Parking is in a parking garage a few meters from the hotel it is not connected so you will have to face the elements for a few meters. But man can not say enough wonderful things about this place you just have to go and experience it. You can cast your phones to the tv to view your entrainment apps. Rooms do have a mini bar with alcohol and sodas and snacks for extra fees. Keurig coffee makers in room with a selection of coffee and teas.
