  Daughters Wedding Reception

  I can't say enough about this hotel! We held my daughter's wedding reception there last evening and I could not have asked for anything better. Jim, the event coordinator, was just amazing! 2 weeks prior he spent 2 hours with us planning how we wanted the room to look and go over every detail of the menu. We had dropped off our decorations the night before and were expecting to have to decorate the room after the church ceremony. When we got there the room was already set up and was stunning. Every detail was taken care of. He kept checking with us throughout the evening to make sure everything was ok. The food was out of this world. I have never eaten a more tender filet mignon. We had a block of rooms so we did not have to travel last night and we have never stayed in a cleaner hotel room than this one. This morning all the decorations were packed up for us and ready to go. Will definitely go back.

  Cool little inn

  This place is quite different from most of our lodging choices. It is a downtown inn with an interesting historical point--President Lincoln once stayed here on a trip from NYC to DC. It's not your typical lodging. Not a place for entertaining kids because it's not that type of place. Spacious rooms, many dining choices within walking distance, a very friendly staff, and if you're there on a weekend, it's a lively night spot!

  Wedding at IP Event Center

  Historic boutique hotel in center of Freehold town. Originally from the mid 1800s & resurrected&renovated over many years. Great staff- front desk, Norma, was cheerful & upbeat (she even saved a cinnamon raisin bagel from the morning continental beakfast!). Had lunch outside at their bistro cafe - good menu; our waiter, Anthony, was friendly & charming. This place is hands down a pleasant change from the usual, sterile corporate lodgings you generally find! Clean & pleasant rooms. What a charming place! Freehold town, Main Street, was a great place to stroll...shops, bistros, restaurants & historical buildings.

  HS Reunion

  Great place to have a party. It was an awesome place. Good Location. The service was friendly. The rooms are spacious. There's a diner across the street and a cafe two doors down. Parking in the back. Drinks were good.

  Withholding of all event funds despite no event

  I was supposed to have a baby shower at this venue in April 2019, and unfortunately it was unable to come to fruition due to the pandemic. I had already previously paid not only the $500 deposit fee, but also the remaining balance of the event. Fast forward to November, I contacted the banquet sales manager, Jim Z, about the refund of the $500 deposit as restaurant credit, and the remained money to be credited back to my credit card. Jim Z stated he was unable to get a hold of the owner of the restaurant, and we spoke a total of three times over a three week period with all failed attempts. Despite the fact that the event never took place, and the American Hotel never incurred any fees, the owner still evades phone calls and contact and I was never refunded the money I am owed. This is a despicable way to conduct business and I hope that this review can save others from being taken advantage of.
