  Basic necessities

  After staying in hotels in the Tokyo area, I was expecting a somewhat larger room in Kumamoto, but the room might be smallest I've been in, in either Korea or Japan. There was not enough room in the bathroom for basic toiletries, and the shower hose was linked to the sink faucet (so you couldn't operate both at once). Also a warning not to flush and run the shower at the same time. For hanging shirts and pants, there was basically just a coat rack with some hangers in one corner of the room. As a previouis reviewer mentioned, the breakast was 99% japanese, with about 1 bowl worth of cornflakes, and some boring rolls. As with other Japanese hotels, no fitness center, and the stairs were locked except for emergency use (so one couldn't run stairs as an alternative). There was no wifi in the hotel, just ethernet in the room. On the plus side, the hotel is just a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport.

  Nice, clean tourist hotel

  This is a typical Japanese business/tourist hotel so the rooms will be very clean, but very small. The service is efficient and the breakfast has a good selection. Although I didn't use the bath that is located on the roof, my co workers tell me that it is very nice. There is no gym, but for those that like to run/jog, there are some roads in between the rice fields located behind the hotel. There is also no bar, but you can purchase beer and wine at the front desk and enjoy them in the lobby. Be prepared to pay for your stay when checking in and make sure to ask for a receipt then if you need one, otherwise you will have to wait until checking out.

  Very good option!

  Typical japanese business hotel, with good facilities including comfortable bed, a desk and good internet connection. The breakfast is delicious! However, if you are not used to the japanese style breakfast, I think they have only few options of bread, jam and cereals to offer. It is walking distance from the train station.

  Great views from the 10th floor onsen

  Lovely and modern hotel with a great, although quite small, onsen which has excellent views both day and night. In a good location for sightseeing, by car, around the Aso or Outer Kumamoto areas and there are also plenty of nearby restaurants too.

  Business hotel - a distance from train station

  This is located 15mins walk away from the Hito Ozu station and if one's carrying a luggage, it's better to avoid when you're not driving. The path to the hotel isn't ideal for dragging your luggage. Other than that, it's a normal business hotel with a rooftop gender separated bath. Remember to bring your own towel from the room if you're heading to the bath. Wifi is good, and offers some basic Japanese channels on tv, mainly news. Nearby amenities are some restaurants, kfc and Lawson is around 10mins out.
