  Family Christmas Party

  Yesterday we had our annual family Christmas Party at the Castle Hotel. It is the second year we have held it here and we were not disappointed. We cannot fault it! It is excellent value for money. A four course meal, in a private room all nicely decorated for Christmas. Plenty of room for the children to play and unwrap their presents. The food was good, the staff were excellent and Mike made sure everything was running smoothly. The unexpected visit from Father Christmas made the day! Thank you once again to Mike and all the staff at the Castle Hotel for making sure we had a wonderful time.

  Not a hotel

  We booked to stay at this hotel for 2 nights whilst attending a funeral. It is not a hotel; at best it is B&B. We only had the bed and one of us paid extra for breakfast. If I could have booked direct with the hotel, breakfast would have been included, but when I rang to check the room facilities, I was informed that their booking system wasn't working. There is a restaurant, but only for breakfast and Carvery .. only on a Sunday. The state of the carpets was very grubby, mismatched up to two floors and very worn. The superior room we booked, as it was supposed to have a bath with shower over was little better than awful. The shower was at the opposite end of the bathroom to the bath; my companion had to pour a kettle full of water over my head to enable me to wash my hair, as I am unable to stand in a shower! The bath towels were clean but small. The taps on the hand basin turned around on the basin as they turn the wrong way to get water out of them! The bedding was good quality, let down by split seams in pillowcases. The bed was uncomfortable. The pillows were okay. The room itself was so hot with the radiators being on 24 hours a day; the windows barely opened and were in a sorry state. There was a fan in the room but that only served to circulate the heat. On the plus side, there were two bottles of water, tea and coffee, kettle, decent mugs and glasses. The location is very good with plenty of disabled parking opposite. We would not stay there again by choice. It is shabby inside and out, unfortunately. It could be really nice.

  I got married here on the 1st of feb 2020,the venue,the food and all the staff were fantastic and Adam the toast master was great.i would like to say a special you to Mike and Adam for making our day a special day and one that will be remembered by all for a very long time

  The room was freezing cold when we arrived - staff didnt put the heating on for hours. The room is dated and dirty, with a horrible.view. Bathroom slightly better, but radiator didnt work, but by then, I was sick of complaining. Music literally thumping until 3am. Breakfast ok, but fruit was mouldy. Don't know where these pictures were taken, but our room was very dated, and the wifi was poor. Staff didnt even ask about our stay as we checked out. Paid decent hotel prices, for dodgy b and b quality . Very poor.
