Cedar Gables Inn is a destination in itself

This is a unique architectural gem where every room and hallway has art and decor that is a treat for the eyes. It's like going back in time. Everything works perfectly: the shower, Jacuzzi, lamps, locks. And the owner, John, is delightful; offers free wine when you get back to your room and is there to chat, and describe the city and the house. Plenty of common areas to talk with other guests, or read.

    Not worth the money

Stayed in room 6. Worst bed ever-completely sunk in the middle where we had to pull ourselves out from the edge. Horrible back and hip pain now. The room smelled so bad of paint we had to leave a window open, bit cold. Have Keurig coffee maker that either doesnt work or delivers cold coffee-no instructions on this model available. No brewed coffee available at reception. Breakfast is good but you must choose from 2 times 8:15 or 9, not helpful if you have an early appt. or would like coffee. Chairs in the room and downstairs are in desperate need of bottom cushions-like sitting on a bucket. Fireplace in room doesnt turn on and frankly it looks a bit scary anyway. Only one window opens. The bed is closest to windows that face Coombs and this street is quite busy and noisy. Breakfast was decent-muesli with fruit and either an egg/vege burrito or same but in omelette style. Grounds are weeded and no outdoor furniture or place to sit. I think the innkeepers are in over their head. The place is in great need of improvements. Could be a beautiful B&B but too late for a paint job. Overall reminds me of something from Adams Family or Disneys haunted house. If you want a nice place from this era, the home just behind this place is breathtaking and about same price, The Churchill Manor. Innkeepers there have spared no cost at detail and guest comforts.

    Character accomadation, great location

We booked for 3 nights, hoping for calm, comfortable resting place after wine tasting. This place ticked all of our boxes. Old, yes. Period fittings, needs some updating but perfectly adequate in amenities. Comfortable bed, good shower, breakfast is served fresh and hot. We had beakfast burrito one day and an omelette the next. Muesli, freshly made bread available. Yum, a big thank you to the chef. John, the owner, asks if you are OK and if you would like anything else. If you don't speak up you can't blame anyone else. Location is a few blocks, easy wlking, to the main streets, cellar doors, restaurants. We learnt about the history of the building and lots about wine by chatting with John, he is a great host. If you want a clinical box to stay in dont choose this accommodation, if you are looking for something with character and history this is for you.

    Very disappointing...way over priced.

What looked like was going to be a fastic place to stay, unfortunately turned out to be a big disappointment. The room was unclean, very dusty, cob weds on the ceiling behind the bed, cob webs on the light fittings, dust inside the wardrobe & cupboards. The bed was way to high, even with the step provided it was very inpractical for me who needs to go to the loo several times during the night. The sunken bath/shower was a nightmare to get into, although once in the bubbles we lovely. The breakfast was horrific...the choice was a date mush with a few pieces of chopped fruit, followed by the cooked option of a mixed omelette. The wasn't any cereal, toast, pancakes or waffles. The was only orange juice, no apple or mixed fruit. It was all very confusing a breakfast, no staff to clear, clean & sanitise tables, no one to explain what the options where. The owner was quite pleasant (although he did go on a bit!), he did seem financailly challenged - the whole place needs a re-vamp, the character seems to have been stripped in a lot of areas (bare walls - need pictures), also where paintings ahve been the walls need redecortaing, damp patches need replastering not just a quick fix with a coat of paint. The location of the hotel is ideal for a short walk into the town, and very accessable to all the wine tasting.

    Adorable spot in convenient location

Great spot for a night in Napa, conveniently just a few minute walk to central downtown restaurants and waterfront. Beautiful building with ornate decor and old style furniture, very charming. Yummy breakfast included.
