  Bad service, bad facilities

  We paid $1600 for a harbour view room, the door lock was broken, they changed another city view room in lower floor. What the? We asked them for a higher floor but they said its already the highest floor that is available and the receptionist was impolite. Bad experience in this service apartment!!!

  New name - Connaught

  This property was recently sold for USD$92m and is rebranding to new name "Connaught" . This property is in clear need of upkeep investment (repainting and solid cleaning of rooms would be a start). The building is set up as a "serviced apartment" so it does not have hotel services. I lived here for 3 months in 2011 (when the facility was named Le Rivage). The property started with expensive and high quality fixtures and had a nice warm touches (serviced apartments can be sterile feeling). Rooms here are only 2 per floor with your own elevator and HUGE 1000 SQF / 100 SQM. If you're staying in HKG for a week or more, you have plenty of space. Bathrooms are also HUGE. Community and free washer/dryer on 2nd floor. Gym is small but functional. Fast forward to 2018, the property still has the same fixtures though now much older. Moldy grout, dinged doors and 8 years of dust under the bed. Many things were simply broken. Room paint patched in many areas (and slightly difference in color was apparent). Windows dirty. Note: Roof is no longer accessible (great views as pictures denote). Staff was unfriendly and mainland Chinese (so don't ask them a question about Hong Kong - I had to help a guest on how to get to the airport!). Serious need of training here. Short - owners needs to clean the place up and train staff. Had I not stayed here previously for 3 months during the 'good ole days' I would have been put off by the property and the staff.

  Place is OK, the manager a bad joke

  Room generally nice although the decor seems like getting a bit tired. Great views. There are better places in HK for the same price, no doubt. I had to stay here cause only cause they claim to be dog friendly. Their friendship with my dog is however costing a cool HK$ 550 per day surcharge. With friends like this who needs enemies... Staff generally nice but avoid the woman at reception like the pest: she is as customer oriented as a prison warden. Manners sorely lacking.

  Great view and huge place given this is in Hong Kong

  The space is HUGE compared to every other hotel in Hong Kong unless you are getting a suite. Its like a small apartment. Sadly was given a lower floor but the view was still good. Guess i paid for the promo price hence was given a room at a lower floor. Wasnt really good at first coz there was a bad stench that smells like the dried/fermented food along the street when you arrive by either tram or mtr. Requested for a room change as was given one floor lower but the foul smell was gone. You will absolutely love waking up here as the view is amazing and relaxing. I came during the 13th week of protest. The rooftop level wasnt accessible. They closed the 2 mtr stations from central so i had to walk through connaught st but it wasnt really so far. Didnt get any trouble co the protest is usually near causeway bay which is the opposite direction from here. Overall great place to relax after a long day. 7-11 shop nearby incase you need basic stuff like water. And the nesspresso machine is free to use with free capsules.

  Badly serviced apartments

  Had the experience of staying in many serviced apartments in life so far and Im left to wonder how the Connaught defines serviced. Other than removing the bins and swapping towels, I cant thinking of much else they offer. Saw a cockroach come running across our kitchen/lounge tonight and called the front desk for help with cleaning or bug spray. Not only did the staff not provide cleaning or spray, we had to call them just to get a response. Understand the team might be understaffed later in the evening but wouldnt expect cockroaches in serviced apartments and certainly wouldnt expect such a lack of diligence in the staff responding to this.
