  nice, but would not come there probably

  we stayed for a weekend there , but were "forced" to stay, as the part of the family was staying there as well. expensive food in the bar good service though at reception! but..the breakfast area in high-season...soooo crowded and loud..in general, not my type of hotel at all. depends very much on individual taste, but for the value of a room, would rather find something else.. and the room we got..with bedroom window facing straight , literally straight to the elevator door :) so people coming out of the lift, could look straight on to our bed :) if the gardinen were not closed..that i did not like, but there was no chance to change the room.so for 2 nights, it was ok oh- great advantage - veyr nice swimming pool! and location to the sea is 5 minutes walk!

  relaxed and comfortable stay right by the baltic sea

  this place is historically where GDR political leadership vacationed behind closed doors and fences. the fabulous location on the largest island of germany (can you correct the name to Cliff Hotel Rügen, w/ an umlaut please?) is probably its biggest asset. the hotel aims to deliver a five-star atmosphere, and admittedly gets close. it might not look it from the outside (owning to its 1978 socialist construction), the interieur is charming and attractive, if a little on the antiquated side.. but very comfortable. the rooms are spacious, furnished w/ lavish chairs and sofas. they are very clean und offer amenities in the bathroom, nicely complementing the visit of the spa the hotel provides. the elevators are small and take a long time, it is suggested to make use of the stairs, which at times is quicker. the breakfast room is quite a walk away, due to the stretched out size of the hotel, which is actually a nice walk. the breakfast offers a good variety of food and drink, w/ very attentive service. not least of all, the hotel offers a nice path to the beach of the Baltic Sea (gated), located just a few meters away. from here you can walk along the beach up to Sellin and its beautiful pier, or down to Baabe. overall a very nice experience.

  Nice place and good location

  Let's start with the positive, as the title suggests the hotel is very nice and located very close to the beach. It will take you less than 5 min to hit the beach, a short stroll, down with the elevator and you are there. We stayed at one of the suites located at the top floor, and yed, in order to get the grand view over the beach/sea from your room, you need to stay at the the 6/7th floor. Breakfast is above average with a lot of dishes to choose from. The dinner buffet was ok, not more, we had it for 3 days in a row and some days were better than others. Generally the meat was a bit over cooked and dry. The fish was nice. Staff was very friendly but the English was not very good. In fact as a general comment very little tourist material were available in any other languge than German, a comment which is even true for every tourist bureau we visited! This makes it very difficult for any non German speaking visitors. Another general comment about the Rügen area is, and this may be true for all of north of Germany, make sure to bring cash, loads of it, as the concept of debet/credit card will not work except in major hotels and some of the bigger grocery chains. All the restaurants we visited were cash only not to mention the smaller shops in the villages. All in all we had a very pleasant stay at this hotel and I would recommend it.

  Very nice hotel area with good services

  Newly renovated spacious rooms available. Professional welcome and convincing services. Reception convinces with above average service qualities. Clean rooms, common areas and spa facilities. Beautiful swimming pool (25 meters long, separate swimmers and non-swimmers areas). Private access to the Baltic Sea. Own tennis court. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner rich. Possibility to eat a la carte. Superbly presented meals from efficient and well-kept kitchen. Kitchen crew does a very good job! Service in the dining room professional, highly efficient and well organized. Trainees look motivated and well looked after. Management obviously practices the values defined in the mission statement. Value for money fully meet expectations. Price level tends to be high. You have to decide wether to have a room towards the park yard or the Baltic Sea. Contact reservation department prior to get your accommodation reserved definitively to have your room available according to your needs. Free transfer from Binz main station (Ostseebad Binz; Connected to German Intercity Train Services) to the hotel. with direct booking. Otherwise, each ride 10 euros extra. Free local transportation offered by hotel for local public transportation system. Bus stop in front of hotel building.

  nice few days stay

  since we could not go to Italy, we decided to go to Ortsee. the hotel is big and it is fair however, the restaurant has good food . the first night we had the dinner buffet which is not good and inadequate . the second night we had a la carte which was excellent. what is worth mentioning is the maitre ´D called Simonson who is extremely good in customer service,, very accomodating and helpful , giving a good feeling of being cared for... the waiter Lolly is also very good and friendly.. i would recommend this restaurant for its customer service oriented staff. we would come back and have dinner here.
