Group dance weekendJust over 75 people all attended our dance weekend at the Cumberland. This has been our venue of choice for many years now and they never let us down Great team to work with lovely food and great location as right on the front All rooms lovely and clean Ballroom Perfect for our events Elaine is the manager and she is very approachable and helps with any queries I have had or specific requirements by our dancers Ideal location for dance weekend. Shops only five mins walk away and ten mins to the station Thanks team for always being great and helpful Ideal for Turkey and Tinsel weekends or midweek programmes as the location is great. Its an hour by bus to Brighton if you fancy a trip out and the shops that are available here have quite a selection Great venue for us. Thanks Team xx

last minute bookinghotel room was spacious enough, bathroom was ok. but, no cleaning service for weekend, no replacement of tea and coffees, floor was very squeeky as was ceiling, breakfast was pretty bad, with the quote of the century being, no toast due to covid, as she then happily passed me my plate of breakfast and sauces all of which had been touched anyway - classic, i did not bother with breakfast on day 2, and hotel was overpriced, so overall not that impressed, especially as Eastbourne itself was a disappointment, with the closed Pier

Hotel with a beautiful viewI stayed in the Cumberland for 1 week commencing the 22nd June. it was a very pleasant week. The hotel is across from the beach just in front of the bandstand. a good location. My family and I stayed half board and the food was excellent, even catering for my Coeliac condition. The staff were pleasant and always on hand to help. I would not hesitate to recommend this Hotel .

Exceeded expectationsI have done quite a few reviews, which are always unbiased and honest, as is this one. Having read previous guest reviews of the hotel before we went, we were somewhat concerned as to what we would find, but nevertheless, went with an open mind. However, in a nutshell, the hotel exceeded our expectations, with one or two exceptions! Upon arrival we were given a complimentary drink of tea or coffee. Checking in was a bit chaotic as another coach had arrived just before us, but the wait wasn't long. Here we have the first minus point. The lift. There is only one, and it simply isn't big enough. A hotel of this size should have at least two, but that is far easier said than done. There isn't anywhere to put another, and installation would be a major construction job. Our room was on the third floor, with a view of the car park , unfortunately. However, it was large and generally clean with just about enough storage space. The beds were comfortable. Two minus points here:- there was a lot of hair in the bath plug hole. Not nice!! , and the noise from the floorboards was on a different level from anything experienced before. We felt sorry for those in the room below us, as there was nowhere we could step that was quiet. Management need to look into putting this right with some urgency. The restaurant and bar areas were nice. Here we must give a big thumbs up to the kitchen staff, as the food quality was much better than we expected, especially the breakfast. There was cereals, porridge, fruit juice , fruit, yoghurt, and the usual hot items which you choose and a waitress plates up for you. The waitresses were all hard working and pleasant, well done girls. Now the last and worst minus point. We were there from Monday to Friday, and on the Wednesday the water heating failed. Despite assurances that it had been fixed on Thursday we still had no hot water on Friday. A small complimentary drink of the managements choosing was not good enough. Hot water is an essential in a hotel, and there should be a backup system for when something goes wrong, as things do.

Traditional seaside hotel, good value for moneyI've just returned from a beautiful weekend staying at The Cumberland in Eastbourne. I was there for a line dancing weekend and we had an amazing time. The staff are lovely and the food was good. I think it's great value for money, you get what you pay for. I agree that it is a bit tired but it was clean and the bed was very comfortable. If you want a boutique hotel with all mod cons, this is not for you but the Cumberland is a traditional (in my experience) British seaside hotel. There was a problem with the water heater (these things happen) but this didn't affect our weekend, we managed and it was actually quite refreshing to have a cold shower with it being so hot. Looking forward to coming back next year.

Worst holiday ever. This was the worst holiday we have had. The staff were rude and not at all helpful, the bedrooms didn't get cleaned just made the bed. Only got clean towels the night before we left. The food was terrible, not disability friendly. The food was not homemade, like pigswill. Had to eat out for tea a few times,so that cost more money to our holiday. Dad got a sharp piece of plastic in his ice cream,he thought it was ice good job he spit it out or it could have choked him. When we told one of the staff she just giggled and said oh its some of the plastic icecream carton then brought him more ice cream!! Disscusting. Wouldn't advise anybody to visit this hotel ruined our holiday. Never seen anything like it in the toilet, the toilet was on a high step you could fall and injure yourself.

Many thanks to all the staff at the Hotel Cumberland, Eastbourne. My partner and I just recently returned from a lovely and memorable stay at the Hotel Cumberland, Eastbourne. We both cannot thank all the staff enough for all their kindness, consideration, helpfulness and support. Which was very much appreciated. We even had amazingly warm and sunny weather during our stay, . The hotel room with a balcony was also very much appreciated and enjoyed. It was like having our own apartment. We certainly enjoyed the meals too and were sorry to leave at the end of our stay. The only criticism we had was that we thought the afternoon tea was rather disappointing. Having paid nearly £40, it seemed rather over priced for the portions we received. It might be worth considering changing or updating the photo of the cream tea on the website. Unfortunately, I cannot upload the website photo because of copyright, but I have attached a photo of the afternoon tea we received and there is certainly a significant difference. Apart from that, we had a wonderful time during our stay and would certainly return to the Hotel Cumberland, Eastbourne again. Hopefully, well also be lucky enough to enjoy our stay in the same hotel room again, fingers crossed.
