    A solid 4 stars

4 to 4.5 star city centre with adjacent racked car parking for 800 Y / night. Twin room #916 was huge = 33 m2. Comfortable but the usual tiny bathroom; which does not make sense, given the large size of the room. No in room safe. Windows could be opened for fresh air. Lots of eating options nearby in covered street malls, etc. Good value breakfast at only 1100 Y pp; but obviously focused on Japanese tastes and the precooked food is again not kept hygienically warm. But this unfortunately is the norm across most 3 - 4.5 star hotels here. One of the better hotel choices on our 4+ week, self drive, all of Japan road trip.

Disappointing, rude staff member on reception.

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a rugby tour group. The room was small but compact and slightly larger than some other Daiwa hotel rooms which are very tiny. The room was clean but there was no coffee in the room nor even a bottle of water which was very poor compered to the majority of other places we stayed during an 8 week trip in Japan. Most of the staff on reception seemed to have little English skills but 2 younger members were very helpful and did speak English. Breakfast was included in the cafe and was quite adequate and varied - no issues here at all. However one older male staff member on reception was very rude and unhelpful. We had to transport our 2 large bags by courier to the next city and he seemed to have little knowledge how to do this. All major hotels in Japan organise this service. He didn't properly measure the bags and I had to tell another staff member that he had done it incorrectly and we were being overcharged. He then recalculated the account. At no time did he smile or engage us in conversation even though we had addressed him in Japanese. Secondly we needed a tax i booked and again he was surly. He made a perfunctory phone call and said ''no taxis'' and walked off. I then spoke to another staff member who was very courteous and arranged a taxi for us which arrived in 5 minutes. Lastly when we checked out we again got the same man and when I handed over our room keys and spoke to him in Japanese he ignored us, did not thank us for staying, took the keys and then spoke to another staff member. This person was very rude and a very poor representative of the hotel and we would not stay here again.

    Quiet and convenient But..

On a previous trip to Japan, I stayed at the Daiwa Roynet hotel, and I had quite a nice stay with a good hotel breakfast with many choices and pleasant atmosphere. During a recent stay, my experience was different. One morning breakfast was enough, then I fled, checked out way before my scheduled seven night stay. Besides the bad breakfast experience, another issue was lack of fresh air in my room. The window could not be cracked. Additionally, there was not a choice for a non-smoking room and the lingering smoke smell was suffocating and alarming for general health. Overall, I still enjoyed my stay because of the professional servicemanship with smiles, and of course I appreciated the Japanese esthetic including bath tub, and the choice of pillows and air purifier.

    Overall very good stay

    - Less than 10 minutes walk from JR station north exit . - In the other side of the road In 2 minutes there are bars and clubs and restaurants . - LAWSON right under the building don't even have to go outside. - professional front desk team : suddenly 15guest came for check in but receptionist remain calm and treat everyone well - pillow is a bit hard - can not find "do not disturb" sign in room - would be good if they have adaptors for rental.

    Convenient but Mediocre Hotel

We spent 3 nights in this hotel and were disappointed by the small size of the room and the inability to give us a king size bed rather than two twin beds. The staff at the front desk did not speak English well and it was difficult to communicate. The main advantage of the hotel is its location relatively close to the train station (~ a 5 block walk).
