Great Experience! We had a chance to stay in this small hotel in a little quiet village outside of Ferrara. The owners and staff were very friendly and after a three day stay we felt really at home! If you have a chance to stay here make sure you eat at the restaurant - nice outdoor seating and great fish! In all, a wonderful experience - will return for sure!

Decent hotel, pretentious restaurant with rude managementThe hotel appears in the Locande d'Italia, a guidebook to "small hotels with character" published by the Slow Food Publishing House. It is in the characteristic small town of Pieve di Cento, near Bologna. Located in the centre, the approach by car is a bit complicated. There is an internal courtyard where one can park - but only if you are fortunate: there are fewer places than rooms, not to mention the guests of the attached restaurant, Taverna dei Massari. The reception is on the first floor, which is certainly unusual, approach by a tight elevator. We had a room in the attic - simple, clean, with a fine bathroom; I suspect the temperatures during the summer would be uncomfortable. There are small oddities - the double bed is not really a double, but two singles pushed together. Breakfast in the room - we were told this was "due to the reconstruction of the dining hall" - but as I see from previous reviews, this has been ongoing for >6 months, so I am not sure this is not only an excuse. Booked a dinner table but this did not work: there were too few waiters who spent their time kowtowing to the local guests, and chatting with friends, thus not paying attention to us for >15 min. Mentioning this generated a hostile reply from the waiter (then also from his wife!), suggesting we should go elsewhere which we did, apparently to mutual satisfaction. I have read that in some restaurants, the personnel feels they do a favour by allowing guests to sit at their tables - to experience this in this centre-of-the-world place was surprising. Perhaps Saturday shold be a "locals only" evening? I understand the hotel and the restaurant are under different management. Hotel personnel was kind and helpful.

OK but nothing specialNicely located in the middle of the town, rooms are o the first floor with a reception with is occupied till 10PM. It has a restaurant located in the same building...rooms are OK and prices are decent. Value for money is OK...but the whole thing is a bit sad....
